OSLO ? President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to encourage his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.
I use to think a Nobel prize was a real reward until Al Gore got one. Now that Obama won one for nothing, I've completely dis-credited it as an actual "Prize." Pretty lame if you ask me.

Yeah, isn't that what every president for the last 30+ years has tried to do...what makes Obama so different? He hasn't done any of those things yet, and they're already giving him an award for trying. Well, hand one my way because I "try" to do good things everyday too

I know, I know, I'm not saying it was the most well thought out decision ever made... just answering OP's question.

I am an Obama supporter through and through but I agree with Jennybeams. every president is trying to accomplish this. I think he is going to be a great leader but to win the nobel prize when he hasn't really had the time to prove anything yet is kinda weird.
