  • Thanks ladies! This doctor was part of the OB Medicine group at the hospital here. Basically, it's a group of internists (regular, general doctors) who specialize in pregnancy. I think that's why she did such a thorough exam; their teaching is much more broad than just OB.

I don't know if this name is common to other places, but this is what is says on the hospital website. I did need a referral to see them. They are a separate office from Maternal Fetal Medicine.

The Center for Obstetric Medicine provides consultative support to Women & Infants Hospital programs in maternal-fetal medicine, gyn oncology, reproductive endocrinology, urogynecology, the Breast Health Center, and the Women?s Primary Care Center (WPCC.) In addition, we offer consultation services to patients referred by community based ob/gyn physicians from Rhode Island and the southeastern New England region.

Our physicians are uniquely trained in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions in pregnancy, as well as preoperative and postoperative consultations. The physicians care for patients in their own medical consultation clinic, internal medicine practice, the high risk pregnancy program, and on the inpatient service at Women & Infants Hospital.
