meredith's alcoholic father needed a liver transplant.

her whiny half sister wasn't a match and cried to meredith because she was a match.

meredith had the surgery to give her father a piece of her liver.

looks like she saved the day. i bet she goes into a coma due to complications or something grey's anatomy stupid like that.

this may not be the reason for how they'll explain her absence though. from the preview they are going to "cut" one of the main characters from the staff due to a hospital merger with another local hospital. maybe they'll cut her. but then why would the show be called grey's anatomy? grey is speciphically spelled with an e instead of an a as the book suggests because it's meredith GREY.
