What is too long for a nap?

So I just posted below re: CIO...

LO has been asleep since 2:30pm. It is now 6:30pm. When is a nap too long? I don't want his nighttime sleeping to be all messed up.

Re: What is too long for a nap?

  • At your baby's age, you cant be too picky about when they sleep. And there really isnt a nap that is too long for this age either. If your DC wakes when hungry, you have nothing to worry about.

  • So, I am usually a proponent of letting LO sleep but yeah, I would totally wake him up and try and feed him/keep him up for a few hours that way he'll be ready for bed later.

I do try and do this with DD in the evening. If she's asleep for several hours I will wake her up around 6-7PM and get her to stay up for a while before bed at 9PM.

  • our pedi told us not to let DS sleep longer than 3 hours at a time during the day so he doesn't get his days and nights confused.
  • Good lord, let that baby sleep unless your pedi has todl you to wake to feed. :)  I am jealous of four hour stretches at ANY time of day!
