advice needed on nanny pay

Hello,

?

I live in the UWS & have found an amazing nanny. ?She's very warm, fluent in Spanish, has her papers, & is great with kids. ?She will also do light housekeeping, ironing, etc. & a lot of our cooking (she's an amazing cook). ?She charges $120/day (for 8:30-5:30). ?Do you think this is reasonable? ?Any advice is welcome. ?Thanks!

Re: advice needed on nanny pay

  • How many and how old are your children?  We live on the UWS and our current nanny has been with us since my son was 6 weeks old.  We pay her a base of $500/week for 9-6 and provide her w/a metrocard.  I work overnights once a week and she gets overtime of $13/hr.  Her only other obligation is doing my son's laundry as we have a housekeeper too. As our son grows, she will also be preparing his meals and we will most likely give her a raise when she is doing more than changing diapers and feeding him.  Hope that helps.

  • I am not sure of the going rate, but one thing to factor into the equation is whether or not you're paying her cash vs. taxable income.

  • thanks - I will have just one baby, and she will do most of the family cooking, light housekeeping, & watch the baby when I run out.
  • If you like her, GRAB HER!  That's about average price.
