  • ds didn't start tripodding until he was 4+ months and even at that he was only doing it for a few seconds at a time.  Now he can do it for a while, but when he gets scared or notices I am not holding onto him - he tumbles over

  • No - if you are playing with her, and exposing her to different toys, different positions (ie tummy time, back play, and hold your LO in the sitting position) you should be fine.  Kellan isn't close to tripoding, just rolled belly to back at 3.5 months (purposefully) and back to side now.

    Hi BTW  Love your siggy!

  • my daughter is not showing any interest in grabbing things yet either.  she is able to grasp my finger though, so i know she is capable.  she's just not interested yet.

  • Eh, Tillie still doesn't tripod.  Just in the last two weeks she's started grabbing at specific things.  Every baby develops at their own rate.  Don't worry about it.
  • The standard for achieving tripoding is 6 months so you have plenty of time!  Your DD is too young to swipe at toys yet, but should be sable to grasp them and bring to mouth if you put it in her hand.  Don't worry!

  • i bought those linking rings and dangled them from his activity gym so he could actually reach something- the other stuff seemed too high (although he bats at it now).  He also isn;t great at holding stuff so I bought some easy to grip toys and use those and a blanket

my little guy doesn't roll back to belly yet (he is getting there), he doesn't tripod either.

they all do it in their own time

  • Phew!! I was worried about this too!! He grasps his blanket, and very rarely a crinkly flap of a toy I offer him. He's not too interested in anything else.

We have him 'sit' up with our help, and he really loves it, but he's nowhere near being able to balance on his own yet.

your baby sounds like my baby, if that helps at all :-)?

  • All in good time.

DS started batting and grabbing around that week. He still doesn't bring anything to his mouth besides his hands. And he's no where near rolling over (back to front or front to back).

Maybe make sure the toys are hanging close enough that she can reach them. I just made sure DS spent more than a few minutes laying there. He eventually became interested in the toys.
