Doctor recommendations for a Big Girl In Big 'D'?

I am new to Dallas and am looking for a new OBGYN.  I am overweight and working on it.  I am looking for a doctor who is encouraging and motivating, rather than one who scolds and lectures.  I am well-aware of all the risks associate with obesity and childbirth.  I am not currently trying to get pregnant because of my weight.  I would like to find a doctor who will help me to reach my goals and have a healthy pregnancy when the time is right.  Does anyone have any recommendations?  Thank you so much.

  • I use Dr. Jon Ricks at Women's Specialists of Plano.  He has offices by Plano Medical Center and in the Frisco Baylor Medical Center.  By all "standards" I am WAY overweight.  There we no lectures or anything and I had IVF and got pregnant with twins.  Basically it was more of how I shouldn't gain much weight being pregnant more than anything.  If you have questions, let me know.
  • I love my Dr and I have recommended him several times.  I too am overweight and I never once have been scolded by him due to my weight.  He is a very straight forward Dr and won't BS you, but he won't talk down to you and make you feel bad.  He is always willing to work with you as long as you are willing to work with him.  Plus, I absolutely love his staff.

  • I use Amy Sigman at Medical City and LOVE her. She's not too far from Richardson- near 635 and 75.

Dr. Ricks is wonderful (I saw him once during my last week of pregnancy), and if he's not available, Dr. Monier and Dr. Eisenberg are also at the same practice and are wonderful doctors.  :)  Dr. Monier is my doctor (and my SIL's) and he's wonderful.
