Had my 40 week appointment today.
Baby is "right there" / very low.
I'm 70% effaced. 2 cm dilated. OB thinks he's probably 7 1/2 - 8 pounds right now.
I scheduled my induction for next Thursday, October 15. At 2 a.m.!!! Yuck. I so, so hope I don't have to be induced. ![]()
And on a side note (and I just posted on third tri about this), I cannot believe how annoyed I am getting at everyone and their mother asking about his arrival. NO, HE'S NOT HERE YET. I'm not even due til tomorrow, people!!
Please baby boy, get here soon, I'm ready to meet you!

You have a whole week and I bet he'll come on his own! You're lucky about the down low/right there part. That seems to matter greatly as I'm learning
I have to ask though - why 2am!?
I could have written this myself. I'm ready to meet my baby!!
I hope he comes before the 15th!
If you're already 2cm, I'm sure the baby will have joined you before then!
Why are they scheduling an induction? Is everything ok?
Good question! The answer is because I'll only be six days past my due date, so technically, I'm considered an "elective" induction still - you're not considered non-elective til a week past. But the only reason I'm doing the 15th is because that's when my doc is on-call for deliveries!
Believe me, I don't WANT to be induced, but whatever. So the better times are saved for those who need it more than I do, I guess. She had a 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. slot at first, but when she came back, she said both were filled so I'd have to go with the 2 a.m.! Oh well, I guess it could happen like that if I were to go into labor on my own anyway. (which I so hope I do! You hear that, little boy?!)
So .... the baby being dropped and really low makes my odds look good? I didn't know if that meant anything much, since the babe can be engaged for weeks .... I hope it does mean something, though!
Yeah, everything's fine - my practice just doesn't like people to go past 41 weeks, I guess. I know some will let you go to 42 weeks .... but not mine. I feel torn about it - I want him to come when he's ready and I don't want to be induced ... but at the same time, I just can't imagine getting to 42 weeks!
It must be so hard, I still have 4 weeks to go and I'm already really impatient. I hope you don't have to wait until your induction.
I'm not sure if you've seen this website before but it's great for people who keep asking you if you've had the baby yet! I'm planning on putting it on my facebook when it gets closer to the date haha!
