DS sleeps so well in his car seat it blows me away. Last night someone suggested I let him sleep in his car seat at night. I think this is kinda insane, but to be honest I've thought about it. Am I a bad mom? We are out of town and DS didn't sleep well last night. I think its b/c I had cabbage for dinner

and he was gassy. Hopefully tonight will be better. I feel so bad for even considering this. Oh well, lack of sleep does crazy things to you, or at least that's my excuse for now!

I actually just spoke with a mom of four yesterday about this. My LO sleeps in his lamb swing. He has since he was about 2 weeks old. He just isn't comfortable laying flat in his bassinet. I even tried propping him up, on his side and yes even on his stomach (with an angelcare monitor) he doesn't like anything but his swing to sleep.
Anyway back to the point...
Her daughter was the same exact way except with the car seat. Her daughter slept in it until she was six months old. There is no long term damage and she isn't a bad mother. She reassured me that the baby will be fine sleeping in his swing. Do what you need to do so both you and the baby are rested. Eventually the baby will be ready to transition but it may not be until they are slightly older.
I'm taking this advice and letting him sleep in his swing. In a couple of weeks I am going to try to start getting him to sleep flat on his back in his crib but for now...survival mode! Sleep is a good thing for mom and baby.
DS was so gassy the first few weeks and the only thing that helped was to let him sleep in the carseat. For some reason he was less gassy when he slept in more of a sitting position. I let him sleep in his carseat in the crib for almost a month, and the transition to just the crib was so simple. Now he's been STTN in his just his crib for 3 weeks with no problems

wow, i'm jealous of all of you. DD haaaates the car seat and screams bloody murder every.single.time.
This, right down to the lamb swing!
My pedi said it's fine and also recommended the carseat.
Ditto - I don't like how his head is scrunched down into his neck in there that much.
Our lo has the most awful reflux. We tried elevating her cradle mattress, the swing, her bouncer...nothing was working! Our pedi recommended letting her sleep in her carseat and it's made a huge difference.
