Cricketts fitteds

Do you have these?  I was thinking about trying one, but I am not sure which to size to get.  I know my DD is almost (if not already) 15 pounds.  The newborn+ goes to about 20 pounds and says to use for the first 8-10 months.  The toddler+ size is from 15 pounds and up.  What size should I get? I am torn since she is almost at the weight for toddler+.

And if you have these, do you like them?

Re: Cricketts fitteds

  • I'd definitely get the infant.  DS is around 20 lbs, and can still fit into them - they were actually a bit big in the legs for awhile.  He is a bit of a skinny guy, but I'd be shocked at any 3 month old fitting into the toddler ones.  We really like ours for daytime fitteds - used them at night when DS was your LO's age, too.

  • They're sized pretty large, so I'd probably go with the smaller size.
  • I can't help with sizing (well other than to say that my 2 year old wears the toddler size with room to grow so I'd guess go with the infant) but I love the two that I have. They are really absorbent and are our best nap time diaper hands down.

  • I may be in the minority but I found that DD sized out of her Cricketts super fast.  I also found that the more they were washed, the more papery they felt and the less absorbent they were.

However I sold them locally and the new owner adores them...

I'm not sure about your experience but I got both of mine used and one is pretty thread bare and still wicked absorbent. And I'd describe their texture as a lot like a KL - not sure if that's what you meant.

Nope, different from KLs which we had.  Those did get a bit crunchy, but the Cricketts really were a strange consistency the more I washed them.  I actually purchased Cricketts from reviews I read on here, but then when I had the mixed feelings about them (rough, bulky but not absorbent anough to justify bulk, outsized fast) I did some Googling and found other people felt the same way I did.

But then, some people love BGs and some people hate them, some people find GMs to be so absorbent that they can go coverless and others find them a waste of $.  Smile

  • I have a few and really like them for daytime. They're a good diaper for the $. DS has been in the infant size since he was 2 months old and still has room to grow (he's 18 lbs now). I'd definitely get the infant.
  • Something to note:  The old-style Cricketts (with rainbow serging) were made using hemp/cotton jersey knit.  The new Cricketts (solid color serging -- green for infant, red for toddler) are made from either hemp/cotton fleece or cotton fleece (they offer two choices for fabrics).

The hemp/cotton fleece wears better than the cotton-only fleece, IMO.  Both stay nice and soft if you run them through the dryer occasionally.  Like all fleece, though, it will pill.  There's really no way to keep it feeling like it did when it was new.  Sort of like an old sweatshirt -- pills just happen.

If you need to soften them up, Ecover makes a fantastic fabric softener that can be used on occasion for natural fibers only.  Make sure to not use it on any pockets, AIOS, or other diapers with synthetic fabrics (including microfiber inserts).

    HTH!
