2nd Trimester

What's your total weight gain at 16 weeks...

My doc wants me to only gain 15 pounds total because of my pre-e and HELLP history.  I don't think I am up much from when I started, maybe 2 pounds if that.  But I haven't had much of an appetite either.

  • My doctor said I should gain 10-15 total.   I was still down a couple pounds at 16 weeks.  At 24 weeks I am up a pound, maybe two.
  • I'm up about 5 lbs.  I was lucky enough to not have m/s, so I never went below my starting weight.  I also started off at a fairly moderate weight, I used to have a BMI of 21.5.

  • At 16 weeks I think I was at 8 pounds. I had absolutely no M/S (which I'm thankful for) so I haven't lost any weight while PG.

My doctor talked about 20 lbs. as a good goal, but I would be okay with 30. I'm trying to eat healthy, but I'm also satisfying my pregnancy cravings because when else will I be able to do that?

  • I was told to gain 25-35...why is that so different from all of you?

I am up 5 lbs at this point

  • I JUST gained one lb within the last two weeks or so.
  • I went to the doc today. I'm up 2 total.

I think it depends on your starting weight.  If you're on the fluffier side, it's not recommended to gain as much.

I was told 25-35 also.  Were you small to begin with.  I'm thinking that they tell overweight people to gain less and then underweight/normal people to gain a little more.  I had a BMI of 18.5 prepregnancy so I guess I should be okay with the 8 pounds I've gained.

  • I have been eating constantly but I am still not gaining, I have no clue why my app. at 16 w I was down 10 pounds. I'm still losing weight for some reason

Hmm, I guess so.  I'm 5'8" and weighed 130 to start...not small, but not overweight either.

  • I didn't have any m/s and I have gained 8 lbs so far...I am in my 18th week of pregnancy, so I'm not sure if thats high or not.  I am kind of paranoid about packing on the pounds!
  • I'm at about an 8 pound gain at this point.  I've had some morning sickness but since it's gotten better I've put on about 5 lbs.
  • My scale said I'd gained 3 lbs but the drs. scale said I was the same weight as my first appointment.  The midwives haven't said anything about weight goals or gains to me so I assume I'm good to go.

  • I'll be 15 weeks tomorrow, and I have gained 17 lbs :) I was small (and some people would probably have said underweight) to begin with, I'm 5'3 and I weighed 108 when I got pregnant. Now I'm up to 125.  I'm also carrying twins though so factor that in. I gained 8 lbs in the first 2 months, even when my "morning sickness" (more like all day sickness) was really bad.
  • My 1st tri I was down three lbs, and yesterday I had gained 2 lbs back. So I'm still down a pound.
  • none so far.. but also I had surgery @ week 11 so I think that helped...

and venting a little... my mom is bugging to be aware of my weight.. eat plenty of fruits & veggies... I know she's caring.. but after telling her I've gained zero pounds... it doesn't seem very supportive, thank you..

  • I plead the 5th! LOL

  • Wow.. there are a lot of people that gained like nothing.. I think I am at least 10 lbs.. even with terrible morning sickness. will find out today..
  • As of last Monday I was down 4lbs. I started at 110lbs so my doctor is not too pleased but honestly I do eat. I think it is just because I have been eating apples and chicken and not cheeseburgers and fries like I use to. Although a cheese burger sounds REALLY good right now.
  • I was alittle under before getting pregnant I was 97LBS at 5'3. No I wasn't under weight because I didn't eat I am just very active and come from a family with good metablism.(one of my blessings) I am so far up 6 LBS which I was giving myself hell for as it seemed to be a big jump in a short time. One month ago I had only gained a pound. I can tell it in my chest and mid section...but still no real bump!
  • I've gained 7 lbs so far. Recommended for me is 25-35 lbs. I am 4'11 and weighed 104 at my 1st appt. I am now at 111 lbs. I had morning sickness and threw up quite a few times but I love to eat! my diet has been pretty healthy I just have to eat so many times a day!
  • i'm a couple of pounds awayfrom being back to my prepregnancy wweight. my dr. says at least 3 lbs by 20 weeks. i'm sure it will coe in good time... cant wait.
