'ello...
My three week old daughter was recently diagnosed with acid reflux. During feedings she arches her back and screams because of the pain when the milk comes part way back up. She doesn't spit up excessively but it does happen every few feedings and that upsets her even more (it often comes out her nose and chokes her for a moment). We have taken her to the doctor twice and she has been prescribed Ranitidine to help reduce the acid. We were also told to add rice cereal to her bottle (I pump and she takes breast milk exclusively) and keep her upright for at least 30 minutes after feedings. We're trying all these things and still having no luck. I'm frustrated with the doctor?s office because they just tell us it's "normal" and she'll grow out of it with time. Okay, fine, I get that but my daughter is in pain and I want to do something to comfort her! I'm wondering if any of you have dealt with this and had any success... if so, please let me know. Thank you!
Re: My baby has acid reflux :(
that is generic zantac.
we tried that and just switched to prevacid yesterday - ask them for that!
My LO has reflex too. He doesn't seem to be in much pain but projectile vomits A LOT after feeding. It's hard to leave the house because you just never know when he's going to dowse everything in puke!
He's on Zantac (for the past week and a half) which has not helped. They just switched him to Prevacid today (I'm crossing my fingers that this helps).
My LO is also on the liquid Zantac twice a day...I've also taken him to the chiropractor twice. He seems to be more comfortable.
I was worried the chiropractor would man handle him, but it wasn't what I expected at all. She just gently pulled his legs and pushed on his chest to align him. I've never been to one before.
