Oh, BIG housesitter vent
On the 29th she said that she was going to express mail my tags/registration right away. They still haven't showed. I emailed her last night and STILL no response.
Thankfully the CA DMV site says that in the event that the tags are late, a prior registration card is sufficient evidence in the event of being pulled over, so thank goodness about that.
I still turned early today to avoid a sherriff this morning, just in case. I felt silly when he ended up behind me again later on, but it was all fine.
Anyway, I'm so annoyed that she doesn't respond to me 99% of the time but will answer DH's calls 75% of the time. We told her she'd be dealing with me most of the time. It makes the irrational protective part of me think that she has some sort of bias towards DH (like, a crush or something?) that is affecting this whole thing. Silly, I know.
I just can't wait for these next 10 weeks to pass so this can be over and done with. Then I don't ever have to deal with her in this kind of capacity again. I can just see her in passing and be cordial.

You can go online in MD and print a paper one. ?Ours was lost for a while since it was mailed to the lease company instead of us and we got a tow notice! ?So you better believe I looked that up.
Anyway maybe CA has the same thing. ?I don't want you to get a tow notice. ?Mine was after like a day!?

Nope, no place to print one. That's why they say the prior registration is sufficient. I'm just praying it shows up soon.
And stupid CA for not offering that option!
So true. ?How would you be able to prove that you ordered/payed for the new one? ?Stupid CA. ?Also what's that going to do if your car is in a lot and gets towed? ?Its not like you stand by your car when you park it!

If they run the plates it should show up. I don't know that they'd tow from a lot unless it was sitting there for a long time. I don't have to park on the street either.
The funny thing is that there is a sheriff in our apartment complex! He's not turned me in yet!
Jenni - Part of me is definitely wanting to do that, but really there's no one to tell. I tried emailing her dad (who plays softball with DH) and he never responded. He works for the school district and it was the summer so who knows if he even got it. Or if he just dismissed it. She is doing us a big favor by taking care of the cats and the house, but she's also not holding up her end of the bargain.
When DH told her that his tags were coming she sent them the next freaking day. With mine, nope! GRRRRRRR.
ETA: I did tell her she could use us as a reference in the future...I just didn't say what we would say about her. I'd definitely be truthful there.
