Custom crib bedding-who to use?

We are having our first baby (Girl!) in January and I'm just not a pink fan. I have long loved all things purple/lilac/lavender and would like to use this in my nursery. Combined with greens, it's great for a girl's crib but the problem is finding anything pre-made that doesn't also have: Bugs, flowers, hearts, etc. So I'm looking at custom, and like what Polka Tots Designs has to offer but I'm wondering who else is out there? So, who have you guys used and been happy with?

Re: Custom crib bedding-who to use?

  • I was all set to order from Javis Davis https://www.javisdavis.com/  but then I found a Caden Lane design that I loved and purchased.  It ended up costing about the same though...

You'll love Javis Davis interactive design program where you can play around w/all the fabric combos.  They have some great fabrics!

  • They both have gorgeous fabrics and sets! However, would you believe that neither of them offer anything in the purple family? I'm just having a hard time believing that purples are so "weird" for girl nurseries!
  • Have you checked etsy?

This is exactly what I was going to suggest.  If we had had a girl, we would have gotten this set in pink  :)

  • Yes, I had seen the set from PB Kids but the quilted look is a little more country than I'm thinking. I just see all these gorgeous pink/chocolate sets everywhere and want something that pretty/elegant with purples! I'm not familiar with etsy, has anyone used them?
  • I've never used Etsy for crib bedding but I've ordered lots of other things from there.  You could check Calico Corners if there is one in your area and they can set you up with a designer/seamstress.

Now that I'm thinking of it Serena and Lily has gorgeous bedding too and I know they have a couple of styles w/purple.  www.serenaandlily.com

**ETA- I forgot I was posting in the DFW board.  There is a Calico Corners in Southlake.

  • Thanks! I'll check with Calico Corners, I have no idea of their prices. Serena & Lily has gorgeous stuff and a nice lilac/green print but with those silly flowers I'm trying to avoid. Apparently I should start designing "non-pink" sophisticated baby girl nursery bedding!  Thanks for the suggestions!!!
  • those are the colors i used when i did my daughter's nursery 2 years ago - there is virtually NOTHING with both of those colors - i ended up making my own and using 2 different fabrics (one lavender, one seafoam green) that i found in the scrap room at Best Fabrics in Dallas

    good luck!!!

  • I had my daughter's bedding and rocker/ottoman made and used a local woman who does FANTASTIC work!  I, like you didn't want a theme on her bedding - I chose damask, polka dots, paisley, minky and coral.  I gave her an idea of what style I was wanting and she pulled lots of fabrics from our conversation that she thought I'd like so I didn't have to go through fabric book after book.  She has a million fabric options to choose from and you're able to customize the bedding however you want (thickness, style, cording, ties, tailored/boxed or puffy, etc).  I highly recommend her.

  • oooh, great! I contact Brenda above to get some more information!!! Thanks! I wish I could sew and consider doing my own, too, but that is one skill I do not have at all!
