Pregnant after a Loss

Bra? (possible stupid)

Did any of you go from underwire to non underwire?  I had to buy new bras again and went from a 34 C to a 38 D.  But it still kind of hurts, so I'm assuming it's the underwire.

Re: Bra? (possible stupid)

  • I am not a fan of the underwire ones I got.  It's hard to find Ds without them though....I'm not used to looking in that size range though...maybe I'll have to look harder Stick out tongue

My nursing bras are wireless though so that's good!

  • Not to sound stupid, but are you sure the new size is the right one? Usually when a bra hurts, it means it's not fitting right. Of course, it could be the right size but the brand just is not fitting.

  • I hate bras since becoming pregnant.  I've been living in the motherhood maternity tanks that have the bra built in.  It's so much comfier!

I believe it's the right size....I was at the store for over an hour trying bras on....but never once thought to try a non underwire bra until I got home.   DuH huh!!!  I'm blaming that on the pregnancy!

  • I always always used to wear underwires, but now they are too uncomfortable.  I had a really hard time finding a bra big enough that didn't have an underwire, so I ended up just buying some nursing bras that came in small, medium, large, etc. because they didn't have the wires.  It's still not very comfortable, but it's WAY more comfortable than the underwire.

  • I have worn underwire bras for yeas... but the first maternity bra I bought around 12 weeks was a non-underwire.  It is comfy, but doesn't really hold me up.  Since that purchase I have had to buy 2 more as I keep getting bigger.  The ones I just bought are with wire and they are maternity.  I guess once it gets closer to due date/breast feeding I will switch back to non underwire.  So far I have gone from 34D to 40E.  Geez.

  • I was a DD/DDD pre-preg & could only tolerate underwires for a few hours.  My BB's have been so sore this pregnancy that there's no way I would try to corral the girls into a wire harness.  Soft cups are very comfy.  I agree w/PP's suggestion of having a bra fitting too.  You might find you're a bigger size than you think.  GL!

PS - I highly recommend the Bravado original nursing bra.  It's very comfortable for sleeping/lounging & has become my favorite pregnancy bra.

  • I usually wear underwire but recently got one of the Victoria Secret ones with out underwire (sorry I don't remember the name of bra) and I love it.  It's amazing.

Ditto this.  Odds are, your band size did not increase by 4 inches.  Your cup size probably went up WAY beyond what you thought possible.  You might be a 34-36F or something.  I recommend going to a specialty bra shop and getting measured.  Not Victoria's secret - they have limited sizes and don't know what they're doing.  Ask about lengerie shops on your local board.

A good-fitting bra is the best present you'll ever give yourself.

This site has a good measurement tool if you don't have a shop in your area:
