I know everyone is tired of hearing about H1N1 but

how many of you are getting the shot?

  • nope.  after having H1N1 I dont think I need it.   I will be getting the reg. flu shot though
  • I'm not convinced that what I have currently is it so I will probably get it. Just in case. (They are treating me with Tamiflu for recent exposure to a confirmed case and my own symptoms)
  • I am 98% sure that I'm not going to get it.
  • I wasn't planning on it but just found out they have a confirmed death in the city that I work.  Not a very big town so it is kind of freaky so I just left a message for my doctors office.
  • Is anyone hesitant about not knowing what the fetal effects are from the shot?

  • I'm leaning towards yes, but won't be pregnant anymore which makes the decision easier

  • I will not be getting it nor will my children. I just don't feel the need when it hasn't been out long enough. My nephew got the swine and numerous girls on my daughters cheer squad. It doesn't seem to be like what they have made it out to be. The thing they are stressing is getting them on Tamiflu with in the 1st 48hrs of it.

See, I thought I was definitely getting it.  My OB wants me too.  DH did some reading and started a minor freak out.  I was SOOOO going to get it, but now I'm not sure.  I'm more confused.

    I am getting it.

You can't use this argument unless you aren't getting the seasonal flu vaccine for the same reason.  That vaccine is reformulated every year, the formula was just put together this year prior to the emergence of the H1N1 strain.  The health effects shouldn't be any different.

And my two year old will be getting it as well!

  • After being attacked by my family this past Saturday when I said I don't think I am going to get it, I think I will have to.  My cousin who is an OB was saying that I definitely have to

No, you don't have to.  You do what YOU choose to do.  Research it and make a decision.  It is your body, not theirs.

  • I got the regular one this week (for the first time) but I'm holding to see about the H1N1.  The thing I don't understand for any vaccination is that they say not to give it to anyone (baby) who is under 6 months old, so why is it ok when a woman is pregnant to get it when her child isn't born yet?  They are much less than 6 months and still developing.  I've asked some people who work in health care, and no one can explain that to me.

I'm having a really hard time saying yes to the H1N1.  I want to protect myself and the baby, but this seems too quickly developed and it is hard to tell if the media cover is hype or a real concern.  Why didn't we have vaccine for the bird flu several years ago?  Many people died from that one as is spread all over, and there was not a massive push for shots for it.

    Its very confusing.

  • No on the H1N1 vaccine and no on the reg flu vaccine.
