DA*N YOU GD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i swear, before i was dx'd i did not care AT ALL about sweets - didnt want them, never ate them, so on and so forth. for the past week all i can think about is how bad i want an M&M chocolate cookie. (sorry if i just gave you guys a bad craving...). seriously, its getting me down just a bit though. i keep reminding myself that i only want it because i cant have it - but still... i REALLY want it. WILLPOWER!!!!!!!
then again, as soon as i remind myself that i am doing this for my LO, it makes it all worth it.... but sometimes its torture.
p.s. this stemmed from the fact that when i went to babysit the little girl i watch tonight, her mom had made me an entire batch of homemade chocolate rice krispy treats... and i had to politely decline them (she doesnt know about my GD)
i wish all you mamas a happy and healthy remainder of your pregnancy, and hopefully we can all kick the GD upon delivery!!!!
::passes cookies out to everyone PP::
Re: all i want is an effing cookie!!!!!!!!!
I feel your pain!
For me its halloween candy and foods. Halloween is one of my two favorite holidays, and usually me and DH go out to a bunch of haunted houses, halloween parties, and we go through the holiday candy like crazy. Unfortunately this year I can not do any of our halloween traditions!!!
Its so frustrating!
Honestly as funny/sad/weird as it sounds, I'm going to wait till the end of the month and go buy a whole bag of halloween oreos, fall hershey miniatures, and a giant assorted bag of good halloween candy and store it all until I can have it! I am due Dec 9th, but because of possible pre-e and definite GD, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to indulge in my halloween stash mid to late november! I'm so excited!
:::goes to drool about halloween candy:::
GL with the cookie cravings!
yesterday we had cupcakes at work and i really wanted an effen cupcake and so i gave in and had one -surprisingly, an hour later, my levels were only 102. I don't get it sometimes.
I am a huge believer that if you want it, get it, just eat a small portion and you should be fine.
this.
I also try to plan in a treat for myself a couple times a week. I just count it as part of the carbs I'm allowed to have. I have found that the more I deprive myself the more I want whatever is forbidden. I'm a rebel that way
I agree, go find a small m&m cookie, plan for it and eat it.
And for Amanda... most Halloween candy freezes well
I ate candy corn for months last year after buying way too much on clearance and freezing a stash of it.
You can splurge every once and a while. The key is only have ONE cookie, not the whole bag and balancing it with protein. I have dessert about once per week.
Also, they have great sugar free oreos and other cookies in the grocery store and those don't bring up my number!
Thay have what???!?!!!! And you didn't tell us this earlier? This deserves a post of its own.
Where are my car keys I've got to get to the store!
umm... ditto!!!! i have never heard of such sugar-free goodness!!!! im going to kroger... PRONTO!
Look in the diet section - Fifty Fifty makes some, and the aren't the same but they aren't that bad...
BTW - I am positive that the person who first thought oreos dipped in peanut butter was a good idea was diabetic. Just sayin...
I totally agree! MIL made pumpkin bread last night, and I wanted a piece like there was no tomorrow- so I took it home, turned it into my nighttime snack with some cheese and a glass of milk, and my fasting #'s were fine this morning. And I'm having cake this weekend at my son's b-day party- it just means I'll have to forgo the bun on my hamburger instead!
