I went to the doctor yesterday to get a flu shot. My appointment was with the nurse practicioner because my regular (not OB) doc is on maternity leave. She told me that she WOULD NOT give me a flu shot because 'it's no recommended'. I asked her to clarify what that meant and all she could say was "I'm not comfortable doing it." Grr.
I complained to the office manager about her unprofessional manner and her argumentative nature. I tried to explain to this woman that I understand the risks, I'm not an uninformed patient, I want my effing flu shot and I was till told 'No'. Now I'm having my follow up call with one of the doctors.
Re: Lil Flu Shot Drama
If she's uncomfortable giving it, as a medical professional, it's her call to make. She's not stopping you from getting it, she's just refusing to administer it.
There's nothing stopping you from getting it from another doctor.
Actually, when I was PG with my first child and still working I went to get my shot at the office and was told they would not give it without a note from my OB. I was so annoyed. I had to leave, drive over to my OB office, and get a note saying that it was ok.
woah, hello grammar, nice to meet you.
Not be?argumentative?or anything but the package inserts for the flu shot do say that they're recommended for pregnant women when "clearly indicated". ?What ever "clearly indicated" means is a toss up. ??
Back to the OP, I wonder if your OB knows what the NP is doing and if the OB has an issue with it. ??
If there is a CVS near you, go to their Minute Clinic. They have the preservative-free one, seem very knowledgeable about pregnant women and the regular flu shot. They will also be receiving the H1N1 shot too.
Target will not give to pregnant woman, btw. They do not have access to the preservative free shots.
