Sling ?'s

Hi ladies, DD will be right around 18 months when DC #2 is born and I'm trying to get a handle on what gear I'll need.  I'm very curious about your recommendations for slings/carriers.  With DD I used the Snugli but I wasn't in love with it, I felt like it was too much of a pain to get into and then I was always worried that she might somehow fall out or get smushed.  Thoughts?  TIA!

Re: Sling ?'s

  • With DD, I kept her in the sling till around 15 pounds, then switched to a mei tai with a front carry until she got big enough to go on my back (and I got too big with pregnancy to have her on the front!)

Now I put DD in a back carry in the mei tai and DS in the sling on my front if I'm flying solo.

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE my Moby - I'm still using it and DS is 9.5 months and almost 16lbs. Still great!

  • I have a few and the wrap was the most comfortable. The sling was okay for short trips but I lived in the wrap. You get the hang of it pretty quickly.  I found it easier than my hotsling which seemed tempermental and hurt my back.
  • LOVE my moby. You are truly hands free with it. I can put dd#2 in there and run around with dd#1, catch her down the slide, etc. It's awesome. Don't be intimidated by it!

I also love my babyhawk, but that's best for when they're 6+ months.

  • I just had DS #2...

I LOVE my moby wrap!  It's great for carrying #2 while at home or out.  Keeps him so snug and it's comfortable for me.  I also have a HotSling, but I haven't used it with #2 yet.  I never really liked it for carrying DS #1 around, so I probably will just sell it.  I'm thinking of getting a ring sling though, I find BFing is a little difficult in my moby.
