Rudest Pregnancy comment yet!

Ok ladies, I have to share. I let Wal-Mart so aggervated yesterday! DH and I were checking out and the skinny girl at the register said, "Oh my goodness, how long do you have?" I told her just under 3 months. her reply is, "Oh my goodness, is it twins!" I was kinda irritated, but no big deal. I set her straight and then she had the audacity to ask me how much weight I have gained!!

OK, so I have gained more than the books say for my size, but I have only gained about 25 lbs so far. I was SO mad!

Why do people think it is okay to ask ridiculus and obtrusive questions when you are pg? Grrr.

Ok, stepping off my soapbox.

Re: Rudest Pregnancy comment yet!

  • Ah...I'm not looking forward to those comments again.  I was constantly asked if I was having twins and told I was huge...but my favorite was when someone said "Wow, you must be due any day!" and I was only 28 weeks.

I don't go up to overweight people and tell them they're huge.  I don't say they weigh more than what's recommended...don't know why it's ok for people to say things like that to pregnant women.  I think with this pregnancy I'm going to tell people I'm having triplets...maybe quintuplets, just for fun.

  • People lose their filters around pregnant ladies.  It's crazy...I don't know if they are just awkward and don't know what to say so they just say the first thing off the top of their head!

And never ever is it okay to ask someone how much they gained...my MIL does this to me constantly and it drives me insane!

I have been fairly lucky in the sense that I haven't gotten to many rude ones.  I have this dress though that makes me look bigger apparently and the last time I wore it I got several "rude" comments.  And then the other day in Walmart two ladies were talking and I waddled by and no lie this one lady stopped and was like ooohhh honey you going to drop that baby in this store.  Um okay thanks there.

Between rude comments and unsolicited advice it's a wonder more pregnant ladies don't go bats**t crazy!

  • I know! I mean it what world is it okay to expect not to be knocked out for saying stuff like that. All I could think was, "B**** just called me fat!" DH felt bad for me, but also thought my reaction was funny.
  • I'm really going to start using the hormones as an excuse to knock someone out over these comments.  I'm not even showing yet (but extremely bloated) and they've already started!  2 weeks ago a co-worker had the audacity to come up, rub my belly, and tell me I must be carrying twins to be so big so quickly.  "Thanks b****, it's bloat, but you look mighty fat today, too!" is what I wanted to say.
  • People are just rude. Try not to let it bother you. Really just laugh it off, which is hard sometimes because of the crazy hormones. Enjoy this time, you have the rest of your life to diet and be thin.
  • What's wrong with people??? Just because a woman is pregnant doesn't mean she's cool with being told she looks huge.

With the mood that I've been in all week, my hypothetical response would have been to smile really sweetly and give her the finger.  Yes, I know I should really go to church tonight and ask for prayer, lol.

  • I had that happen about a month ago at the hairdresser's. Then after I told her I wasn't having twins, she asked me if I was sure!?!! Umm...yes. I'm 5'2, so the only place LO can go is out! And in any case, I'm really not that big. Some people just have no filters!
