TTC After a Loss

My odds are horrible:

So tonight I sort of feel hopeless and wonder if we should ever try again. What got me thinking this is:

2 BO's- told the chances of this back to back were low.

1% of all vaginal deliveries will have cervical tears and mine tore right up the center with dd and the OB never caught it (found out at 6 week post partum appt that it wasn't normal to still be bleeding as much as I was and I should have got stitches).

less than 3% of people will mc after seeing a heartbeat (especially after 12 weeks) and that was me

1-2% of people will mc due to triploidy and my 3rd (last mc) was due to this

I have such unlucky odds. Then I think 1 out of 150 children born will have Autism so why wouldn't my kid if I am ever blessed with another baby. Especially since that has such a higher incidence than the rest of the crap I have been dealt. I am very scared to ttc again. I really should play the lottery with this luck!

Re: My odds are horrible:

  • Or think of it this way:  You've used up 100% of the bad luck allotted to you.  The odds from here on out are pretty good.

I like that...way to think positive!

  • When I think of stats, I think of the Simpsons.  Sorry you're feeling down. I felt really down when we had our 2nd loss.  But remember: every time a woman gets pregnant, she has about a 70% chance of delivering a live baby.  You've had a crappy stacked deck and I'm sorry for that.  But remember Homer :

Homer: "Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything. 14% of people know that."

  • I felt like a statistical f- up after my last mc. I had confirmed hb for both pg. My OB was a little shocked even at my second loss. I actually think I am having my DS tested for Autism because my luck is so bad. I really hope you can beat the statistics soon!

I like this!!! Time for your luck to turn around! Yes

  • If it makes you feel any better I had crazy odds with my last pregnancy. 1 in 285 pregnancies are identical twins. And out of those there was only a 1-5% chance of having the type of twins that i have. Then out of that the survival rate of those types of twins is only 50%.

I really hope you get your sticky baby when you TTC in January!!
