Babies: 0 - 3 Months

do you have a bumper?

I did. I took it off because LO was scooting to close to it and I was scared her face would smash up agianst it. But now I don't know what to do cause she is moving around so much I am scared her head is going to hit the rails. Just went in there and her head was up against it and she was fussing. WWYD?

  • i have breathable bumpers.

  • We have the breathable bumpers on-  one of our best purchases.  He really likes to smoosh right up against the side, so it protects him from banging on the rails, plus it protects him from having his limbs hang out.

they were only about 30 bucks at BRU

This.  But I think I got mine for $23 at Walmart.

  • i only use breathable bumpers - on all 3 cribs... keeps limbs and pacis in - otherwise i wouldn't use bumpers at all.
  • Hey Spink! I spoke to our pedi about this because I was concerned. He said not to worry that J couldn't possibly move hard enough to hurt himself. Its been almost five months, no bumpers, and he's helicoptered all along and now he rolls, and we have yet to have an issue.
  • Nope.. she'd have to REALLY head-bang into the rails to do major damage.  I'm not worried about that.  Also, from my experience as a nanny, babies will still stick their limbs through the rails above the bumper anyway.  (And IMO they make changing the crib sheet a major PITA).

  • breathable bumper for teh win!
  • We've never had one and probably never will.  DD does just fine without it.  So far, no limbs have gotten stuck in the slats.

  • I have one. It's been sitting in her closet since I moved her into her crib to sleep. I would much rather have her bump her head than be suffocated/ have decreased air flow from the bumper.
  • We have in DS crib...he did not really start sleeping his crib until he was about 8 month, he slept with us before that. What I do with the bumper is tuck it in around the mattress so its only out a little bit (about 1 inch above mattress). It was nice because it kept the pacifiers in the crib at night when he was younger. We will do the same with DD when she moves to her crib. As of rght now though, she is still in our room in a pnp.
