any of your lo's has a double hair whorl/swirl

my little girl has it and was told that she is going to be a handful - some chinese/japanese theory.  i googled it and came across another thing...that it can be a sign slow brain development.  so now i'm freaking out.  she seems fine to me and is babbling up a storm and meeting her milestones.  tell me i'm just freaking out for no reason!!

  • Never heard of it and it sounds like an old wives tale to me....
  • Or it could have to do with the way the hair parts when LO lays down ...

DS has it, plus a cowlick and half a mohawk all simultaneously. He's developing fantastically. I also have the swirl thing going on, it's just the way my hair naturally goes (I have very short hair.) I would certainly say I developed just fine.

  • LMAO LMAO LMAO

I'm sorry. But really. How the in the HELL do you suppose the swirl of your child's hair has a lick of anything to do with brain development? I will require at least three links from reputable sources before I will even consider not laughing at this. And with that, I shall resume laughing.

Really, relax. While I can't promise there's nothing to this, my swirly hair does beg to differ with whatever you found. Also, my son is a straight up genius (he speaks 3 languages and can do multiplication up to 9's BAH), and he has a swirl.

  • lol  Both DH and DS have it.

DH is extremely smart.  Like Jeopardy smart.

...Sure sounds like an old wives tale.

    yup
  • LOL...I knew exactly what you were going to mention when I saw the title of your post!  This is an old wive's tale in many asian cultures...totally bogus if you ask me.  I have a double hair swirl and I was told I was a wonderful child Wink You have nothing to worry about except maybe your LO having a hard time styling her hair when she gets older...j/k

I've never heard of the slow brain development...that just sounds crazy to me...my brain is just fine by the way!  hehe

  • My daughter has a really noticeable double swirl. So does DH. I think old wives tales are kinda silly. LOL
