Trying to Get Pregnant

Dr apt follow-up

First of all, today I am having a LOT of creamy CM and checked my cervix and still feels high and soft...is there a chance I didn't ovulate yet?

Ok onto the Dr. apt...had high prolactin levels a month or two ago (and didn't get my period for 80+ days), but then got it in early Sept, so the Endocrynologist today checks me out and orders an MRI...he said he wants to check if there could be a non-cancerous tumor or something, I guess that can happen and they can be super tiny and basically harmless, but he said good thing to check...I'm thinking WTF?!  An MRI just scares me a little and I'm thinking just wait a few cycles to see if I have any other long cycles...my mom said get the MRI done if that's what he recommended.

Thoughts?  TIA!

Re: Dr apt follow-up

  • Yup, I'd follow doctors orders on this one.  Better to be safe and check it out.  I hope everything goes well and the long cycle was a fluke.

  • I agree with your mom. If the doc recommends it, I say go for it.
  • It does look to me like you probably have ovulated already, but some more temps will clear it up for you.  The creamy CM wouldn't necessarily indicate you are still fertile since it's not fertile CM.  I get a lot of creamy CM after O as well.

This is just me personally, but I would be all over that MRI as soon as possible.  The procedure itself isn't bad - if you're claustrophobic, there are open MRIs available.  It's just loud really.  And I would rather catch any potential tumors as soon as possible or find out there are none just for peace of mind.

In any event, I hope everything turns out ok with it!  Good luck!

  • I would definitely get the MRI done to put my mind at ease. The last thing you want is to not get it done and then there actually be something wrong and you've delayed treatment (and TTC) for another couple of months. Or what if you delayed it and got KU only to discover you have a tumor (God forbid!) that puts the baby in harm?

I wish you the best. I certainly don't envy you in your situation!

  • As far as whether or not you O'd, I'd say give it a few days to be sure.  FF gave me CHs and took them away 3 different times earlier this cycle.

As far as the MRI goes, maybe it would put your mind at ease about what caused the long cycle.

  • I know how scary the idea can be (I had biopsy on my thyroid and cervix last month) but the scary part is the not knowing.  Trust your doctor and you'll feel better once the not-knowing is over.  Your DH and mom can help you thru the fear. Good luck!

  • This exact thing happened to me. ?They found a tiny 4mm micro prolactinoma on my pituitary gland. ?Apparently it is common but I felt like i was an oddball.

?The lesson I learned - my doctor(gyn) said it??small so they wouldnt treat it. ?She put me on clomid instead. ?I was on my 4th round of clomid and...nothing

?Finally went to an RE. ?She said that the increased prolactin from the prolactinoma was definitely messing with implantiation and all the clomid in the world would not help. ?I am now on my first month of a new medicine to lower prolactin. ?She said this should work.

?I have been trying for a year and a half and I feel like the 4 months on clomid were a waste. ?Just my opinion but get the MRI soon and if they find one treat it!??GL

  • I know the thought of an MRI is kind of scary, but I think I am going to have to jump on the bandwagon here and say that it really is the way to go.  If it turns out that you do have a benign tumor, better to treat it sooner rather than later.
