Do I need a diaper stacker?

Ladies

I feel silly asking this question but I'm having one of those hormonal days when I cannot make a simple decision (do you have those?)

I'm buying a crib bedding set online with a couple of decorative items. Do I need a diaper stacker? I also have the option of getting a hamper and question it as well because we have a laundry shoot.

What do you ladies think?

Thanks for helping my "soft" brain :)

Re: Do I need a diaper stacker?

  • My sister said she never used hers.  However, the one that matched the bedding I got was too cute to pass up, so I have it.

I got the hamper also, but we don't have a laundry shoot.

  • I say no. We just used a basket on the changing table to fill with diapers. Or left the pack on the changing table second shelf.

  • i vote no on the diaper stacker. i think they are kind of a waste.

the hamper is a toughie. if you have the money/extra space, then why not. but if you see yourself using the laundry shoot more, then i say no to that as well.

your money could be better spent else where.

  • I used mine all of the time with DD, but this time around I'm going to try to go without.  So actually, my answer is no help! Stick out tongue

  • I'm keeping diapers , etc in the top drawer of her dresser/changing table. To me i think its a waste to have a diaper stacker, just my oppinion. I did get a hamper though. It was too cute and I know I will use it.
  • Shoot, you have a laundry chute.
  • my opinion is no... why unpack the diapers just to put them in the stacker... i have one only because it came with our set but i wouldnt have bought it if it didnt

  • I vote no. Just another place you have to go looking for stuff.
  • I had this same debate with myself this weekend. I did want to have something to put diapers in so they were easy to grab, but decided to go with a drawer unit to store diapers, wipes, cream etc. This way we can use it to store other items once Jocie is out of diapers.

    This.  Exactly.  Haha!

  • Our bedding set came with one so we're using it but you could easily store the diapers in decorative bins or baskets. They're probably cheaper.
  • I bought a really small box-like stacker from Buy Buy Baby.  It sits right on the dresser next to the changing pad.  It's super cute and keeps the diapers organized.

  • I'd say the stacker is on the list of things that are kind of frills.  We'll be using ours for bibs and burp cloths more than diapers, since we want the diapers right where she's being changed.

As for the hamper, I would say go for it too, b/c you probably want to wash baby's clothes separate from the main laundry.  You can always dump the whole laundry liner down the chute.

    I have chute envy, BTW.

  • I had a diaper stacker with my 1st son because it was cute and came with the set...never used it!  We also have a laundry shoot which is right next to the baby's room in the bathroom, so I won't be getting a laundry basket either. I figure just grab the dirty clothes and toss them down the shoot on my way past the bathroom!

Shoot, you have a laundry chute.

LOL!!!! I am laughing at myself over here. Some days I wake up and have nothing in my brain. I call it "momnesia"

  • Ladies- you are the best!!!!!!

I'm going to pass on the diaper stacker and follow one of your suggestions to put the diapers in the top drawer of the dresser/changer. After all, I did get a 7 drawer dresser so I could fit everything in it. THANK YOU!!!!

And I think I'm going to get the hamper per someone's suggestion. I don't want to wash the baby clothes (or have it mix) with ours. Especially because DH is a surgeon and I don't want baby's stuff mixed in with scrubs-yuk!

Thank you so much for all your responses

  • Nope, mine still has the tag on it from DS.  I put some diapers I got in it in the very begining and never filled it again.  Waste of money.

I liked having the diapers and changing stuff in a basket on top of the dresser.

  • I bought one and never used it. I think it depends on your set up. If you don't have any other place for diapers then go for it. I couldn't see taking diapers out of a box and loading them into a stacker only to have to walk across Jack's room to get one every time I wanted to change his diaper. I had a basket set up on his changing table that held diapers and Butt Paste. Next to the basket was a diaper wipe warmer, that I'm also using again, and then the changing pad.
  • I didn't think I would use mine with DS, it came with my bedding set. Now that number two is on the way, I am trying to figure out if I want another one or if the two sizes will share one. I am surprised how much I like having it.

I am sure I could have lived without it but I do like it.
