We went back to the perinatologist today and I'm happy to say that DH and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of our shoulders!
They did a full scan, and most everything is looking great. Her total weight has increased to 3 lbs 10 oz, which is right where she needs to be! She gained a full pound and two ounces in 9 days, so I was so relieved and the doctor was really happy. Yay for me eating all of that protein!! She is up from the 3rd percentile to the 26th percentile. All measurements were on target, including the abdominal cavity which they were concerned about and is now measuring at the 49th percentile. Her legs/femur are still a little small and measuring in at the 11th percentile, but the doctor really didn't seem overly worried. She said that any measurement under the 5th percentile can be a concern for down's, but that at my other scans her femur measurements were in the 30's, and with Down's they are always low and going from a higher number down isn't necessarily bad. She asked if I have a longer torso vs. legs, and I do, so she thinks the baby may just be taking after me. I'm 31wks1d today and my overall average put me at 30wks3d, so in a much closer range than last time.
She really felt that the baby/pregnancy looked perfect and couldn't be happier with the progress that I had made over the past week. She released me back to my OB and said that she never does that unless she is 100% confident that everything is fine. While we can't rule out down's completely, because you never can, she says its nothing to be worried about.
The icing on the cake was getting a second surprise 3D/4D ultrasound again today! We spent quite a while watching her open and close her eyes and we even got some smiles!
The doctor projects she'll be around 6 1/2 to 7 lbs, so a healthy weight just on the lighter side. All in all, we couldn't be happier. Thanks for your positive thoughts and prayers!
