Favorite large-party appetizers

I'm having a party for about 50 people on saturday. What are your fav appetizers?

Re: Favorite large-party appetizers

Hope that gives  you some ideas.

  • Fancy party? Or beer and wings party??

If you are looking for warm appetizers, I used to make really great stuffed mushrooms that were a big hit. They aren't messy and are easy to pass around on a tray. A cheese and cracker tray is also easy.

We just had a big basement warming party last Saturday, but we limited the apps to easy things like chips/breads and dips and wings and similar. We did have a big food spread. Our party was casual and more of an open house, though.?

    ? cup chopped fresh cilantro

Separate dough into 4 rectangles.  Press seams to seal.

Spread each piece with cheese spread, top with a slice of ham and a few spinach leaves.  Roll each rectangle up. Cut into slices.  Place on a baking sheet.

Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

  • Caprese skewers, cheese and meat platter, shrimp cocktail (cheap if you buy the big frozen bags at Costco), seasoned pretzels (from Tasty Kitchen website), carmel puff corn (also Tasty Kitchen), bacon wrapped chestnuts, bacon wrapped pineapple (tasty kitchen) and an oldie but goldie- mini cocktail weinies wrapped in crescent dough. I just had a party for 30 over the weekend and we had some of these. The puff corn was the biggest hit!

     www.tastykitchen.com is my favorite!

  • Thanks for the ideas ladies!  It's a semi-fancy party. Not beer and wings, but not stuffy. It's a b-day party for my BFF.
  • I did this for the bday party.  Easy, cheap, and a huge hit:

    Apples and peanut butter dip

slice the apples and put in a ziploc with pineapple juice.  Drain apples as needed.  Mine still look good today.

Peanut butter dip- 8 oz cream cheese, 1 cup peanut butter, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup milk.  Blend together and serve.

    So incredibly yummy.

  • Cut filo dough or puff pastry into little squares and press gently into a mini-muffin pan (so the corners are up and look pretty)

Put a piece of brie in the middle of each piece of dough, but leave the corners of the dough up.

Bake in the oven (follow instructions on package of dough)

When done, put a dab of fig jam in the middle of each piece on top of the brie.  Put them all on a fancy plate and serve immediately.

    Yummiest Fall appetizer EVAR.

  • baked brie (you can find about 8000 dif recipes)

Is your party in honour of real Thanksgiving?  Or have you been gone so long you don't realize it's this weekend?

  • I make the best nachos that are ALWAYS a hit and serve a ton of people.

You can make them with or without meat.  I usually do mine without, but when I use meat I do ground turkey with taco seasoning.

Layer 1 can sweet corn, 1 can black beans, 2 chopped tomatoes, 1 chopped onion, jar of salsa, cheddar cheese, meat if you are adding it.

Top with sour cream and/or guacamole.  Serve with tortilla chips on the side.

It gets rave reviews every time.

Ha! I beat you with the baked brie recipe!

  • Akiernan-sub balsamic carmelized onions for the fig jam and also delicious!

Bite your tongue woman! I shall never forget. Making a turkey on Sunday, but don't get Monday off.

  • I like anything on skewers when you start to get fancy. You can put anything together on a skewer and turn it into an appetizer. I've made reuben sandwiches, Philly steak skewers, chicken and brococli, a ton more. Just pull the components apart and thread up.
