Do you blow dry DC's hair?

I started blow drying DD's hair.  She takes a bath at night, and it has gotten really cold here and I don't want her to go to bed with wet hair.  DH thinks I'm nuts and is worried she'll get split ends.  Confused  Do you blow dry your DC's hair?

  • I find it hilarious that your DH is worried about your DD's split ends.  I'm going to have to ask my DH if he knows what a split end is.

Your DD has a lot more hair than my DD...I think if she goes to bed very very soon after taking a bath that I might towel dry as much as I could and give it a quick once over with the blowdryer.  Certainly no harm in it!

  • I don't but that's because she runs from it. I do hate how her hair is so wet, though. I have started giving her her bath right after dinner (about an hour before bed) so that is dry by bedtime.

If I was blow drying it, I think I'd just do it a little - you know, help it along, but not dry completely. Let it air dry the rest of the way.

  • No. But then, DD will probably be 6 before she has enough hair to blowdry in the first place.

  • I have only because she loves it.  I hit the cool shot on my blow dryer and she laughs hysterically.  In reality she has no much hair so it is more for fun then function.

  • Sometimes. I put detangler in then heat protectant spray and blow dry until it's just barely damp

  • I also had to laugh at your H worrying about split ends! If my H were to complain about it, it would probably be something about wasting electricity. lol.

Anyway, now that it's getting colder, I'll probably move DD's bathtime earlier to give her hair more time to dry, rather than blow-drying it. It's fine and thin like mine, so it air dries pretty quickly.

  • We started to recently for all of the reasons you stated.  She recently got over a cold and now that it is colder and her hair is getting thicker and longer (and is quite curly), I find it to be a necessity. She loves it!  I usually put in a little detangler and some curl spray and her hair is much easier to manage in the mornings (much less like cotton candy).

  • Yup. DD showers with me in the mornings and I don't want her to leave the house with her hair wet.  I also use the diffuser because her hair is wavy in the back and, if I don't, it goes straight.  I like it wavy better. Embarrassed

Alaina's looks better air-dried. It curls up better. The few times she's let me blow dry it it went flat.

  • I did this morning because it was cold and we needed to run errands. He thinks its fun to grab my hair as the dryer blows it around, so it was relatively easy to catch him to do it. lol

  • I would if she let me, but she's afraid of it. i want to blow out her curls! lol
  • I do because DD gets a bath right before bed, and now there's too much of it to towel dry.  I put it on low and warm, and it usually takes about a minute to do it.
  • no, b.c dd is afraid of the blow dryer.
  • I had not yet thought of blow drying DD's hair.  Sounds like this might be a fun experiment to try tomorrow.
