Not sure if I voted correctly. I didn't think it was that painful but it didn't do much for my progress. I still went 11 days late and had my membranes 'swept' twice. So I voted not worth it.

I had it done 3 times - once right before being induced and twice during. The first time it didn't hurt at all but the 3rd time hurt like a $itch! I voted 6 and not worth it although since it happened while I was being induced I'll never know.

I've never had it done. I really don't see the point of having it done before one is overdue. It hurts most when a person is less than 1cm, otherwise the discomfort of it depends on your anatomy and the person doing the sweeping.

I just had it done last Tuesday. It didn't really hurt (just a bit uncomfortable). it took about 30 seconds. So far it hasn't done anything!

My OB (who has been practicising for 25 years) said that on average it helps the baby come a week before he/she would normally come.

I did not think that it was any more painful than an internal, and I found it to be worth it...I was pretty much in labor that evening and had N 2 days later.

I answered vfor Melody..she did it twice with JLK. Said it hurt sooo bad and it didnt send her into labor. However she wasnt overdue!

If I had gone overdue I would have done it. I figure the pain and possibility would have been worth it to avoid being induced...possibly
