Can anyone give me a good reason...

that I *shouldn't* line the jacket I'm making with minkee?

I mean, yes, it's bulky, expensive, would totally throw off the cut of the coat, wouldn't match the colors, and would be the adult equivalent of going out and buying a new stuffed animal just to carry around with me...

but I need a GOOD reason.

Anyone?

  • Difficult to wash?  I honestly have no idea... but I thought I'd throw it out there for ya!

Just skip a shirt underneath and you're fine!

  • Doesn't minkee eventually wear through/flatten out with washes faster than more durable materials used in jacket making?
  • oh - and what kind of jacket are you making?! :)

ahhh - now that sounds fab (not bug not wearing a shirt, although I'm certain her DH would approve - just the minky!)

  • Just think of all the poor, synthetic baby Minkees you'll be leaving out in the cold, motherless, to fend for themselves.

  • Dangit, the whole "oh yeah, I'll be wearing a shirt" thing just got me.

    It's the coat from this:

and I'm using a lightweight gray and teal plaid wool for it. Matching is turning out to be a pain, and I'd forgotten how much I loathe sleeves, but I'm super excited for the result.

  • What color is the coat?  They have black minkee.  I'm all about being warm especially where you are since there are some cold nights/days there.  I have no good reason not to line it.

Very pretty pattern!  Even black minkee then might now match.

  • i'm all about compromises....i'd line the pockets with minkee :-)  or, if it's the tie jacket you're making, make the tie out of minkee!
