TTC after 35

Not thinking about TTC (yeah, right!) books

I've been trying to do some things to give myself a mental break from thinking about TTC all of the time.  I tried knitting, which was kind of a bust...I now have a huge wadded ball of yarn that was going to be a scarf.

I got really distracted by reading The Other Boleyn Girl and the Constant Princess, but they both dealt a lot with getting KU and infertility stuff, so it wasn't really much of a break from obsessing about TTC.

Do you guys know of any good books?  I think I'm going to read "Pretties" next (part of the Uglies series).

Re: Not thinking about TTC (yeah, right!) books

  • Try some heroin..that's sure to keep you busy and should improve your chances for getting KU.  ;-)

No, I haven't read any books lately.  My new mission is exercising but I've had a few down days.

  •  The best book I read this year was Crazy Love by Leslie Morgan Steiner. The subject matter is kinda heavy (spousal abuse), but it's a very good read.

If you would prefer something lighter Rachel Gibson or Deidre Martin are some great kind of "chick lit" writers.

Or if you like classics  A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is the best book ever.

    Hope that helps!

  • Love the uglies trilogy!

Right now, I am loving The Hunger Games and Catching Fire... have you read those?

    THIS MADE ME LOL!

No good book reviews here.  Right now I'm officiating high school and college volleyball so I'm super busy.  Barely have time or energy to BD, but I still manage to find time to obsess over it.

Good luck...if you find the trick to decrease obsessing, please let me know.

  • I am reading The Last Lecture by Randy Paughes. It's short and sweet. Very emotional but funny and lighthearted.

Did you ever read "Eat,Pray, Love"? One of my favorites.

Hmmm...it might make me easier to get along with too.  :-)

Thank you for the suggestions!  :-)

  • Dan Brown's new book...haven't read it yet, but I can't imagine that it has anything to do with getting K/U!

My favorite book lately has been Pravda by Edward Doux.  It's a dark drama.  Really dark. But, the writing is beautiful and it was a good story.

  • Just finished the Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb. Not exactly a happy book but a great story and I could not put it down!
  • I second Rachel Gibson.  If you haven't read the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovitch, they are HILARIOUS!  There are a couple where her sister gets pregnant, but for the most part, it is not about TTC.  There are 15 books now.

Also, Jonathan Kellerman is a GREAT writer.  I love his books

  • I'm glad you asked this question. I am going to check out some of these authors others recommended.

Here are some of my favorites:

--anything by Marian Keyes (great chick lit and very funny)

    --Sea Biscuit

--anything by Bill Bryson (non fiction travel writing)

--Pillars of the Earth--super long, but so, so good. I am getting ready to read the sequel.

--Case Histories by Kate Atkinson and Water for Elephants, can't remember author.  Read both of these recently and really enjoyed.
