  Amarah still has this one and loves it. She goes back and forth between it and her bike since she's getting a bit tall for the tricycle.

  We got James a Strider bike for his birthday instead of a trike. www.stridersports.com ?He can already use it at 2 and we have a friend with a 4 year old who still uses his all the time and is almost ready for a 2 wheeler with no training wheels.

  We have a Kettrike Jumbo and I totally regret buying it - it cost a fortune and I think I should have just waited until this year and bought him a small bike for his 3rd birthday or Christmas.  FWIW I saw a barely 3yo at the park the other day riding with no training wheels because his parents got him on the bike at 2.5 - oh, and they actually go out with him!

  okay I looked at the strider and I'm confused. These bikes don't appear to have any kind of pedals, just the fram and wheels.  So how does it work?  And how does a parent not kill their back trying to help child?

  I have to second this.  We had a regular trike & then my DH got DD#1 the strider & she loved that.  She was able to ride a 'regular' bicycle w/no training wheels at 4.  The Strider really teaches them how to balance.
