Question from 0-6: JJ Cole Bundle Me?

Hello, I don't mean to board jump but thought I would ask.  I've been thinking of getting a Bundle Me for the winter for the carseat, but wasn't sure if it would be worth it.  She's almost getting big enough to take out of the carseat to carry into the store, but I don't think just heavy blankets will cut it for the cold Nebraska winters we have.  The BRU website doesn't have a lot of info on it, so I thought I would ask people who may have used it.  Thanks so much!

  • I bought the one from Wal-mart whihc is cheaper and very similiar.  I used it once since it was a pain to get it on/off and get her in and out.  She also didn't seem to like that she couldn't see well around her with it on.

I just used blankets tucked around her body and one over the seat on really cold days to move her from house to car.

  • We used it and I loved it!
  • I don't think it's considered safe to put things under/behind the baby in the carseats...I could be way off base though. I got one much cheaper at walmart and LOVED it last winter!! Get one!!

Me too. Some people say its unsafe but it worked well for us. You might want to look for one on Craig's List, since you'll only use it for a season (I just loaned mine to a friend).

  • I remember reading alot of controversy over those Bundle Me's last winter--about them not being safe with the carseat.  We didn't have one, but we did have a carseat cover--it was sherpa lined on the inside, and just slipped over the carseat.  We would tuck a blanket around baby and then use the carseat cover.  It has zippers so you can get baby in and out.  Worked well for us.
  • DS would have been way too hot in the car in a bundle me. I liked that blankets could be easily adjusted.

I did however, love it and used it in the stroller all the time. Once he got bigger, we used a toddler bundle me as well.

  • I bought the one from Walmart, it cost much less and worked wonderfully. I loved it! It kept DD nice and warm and the snow off her face. I'd just put a lighter weight jacket on her and lay a thermal blanket across her and put the cover on. (We get sub zero temps here in chicago w/ nasty winds - windy city for a reason.) I couldn't of imagined winter w/ out it.

  • I live in Illinois and we loved ours last winter. It didn't interfere with the carseat operation, and really, I just left her in the carseat all through the winter; it was a little bit of a pain lugging it around, but I wanted to know that she was warm and protected from the wind/snow, etc.

  • My DD was born at the end of May so I just used the bundle me lite for her.

Now, since I'm due in Feb. I bought the original for this baby, for the infant seat.  I also bought the toddler version for my DD in her stroller.

    It's a great product.

  • bundle me = best purchase last winter.
  • LOVED it!  And as a side note, I saw them at TJMaxx yesterday for $24.  (This is in Ohio though, not Nebraska).  Great product!
  • I loved the Bundle Me, especially in a NY winter.  I got mine at a garage sale barely used for $20.  Marshalls/TJMaxx has them for $20+ if you can find one.

  • FWIW, using a bundle me voids any warranty on your car seat, because it is not approved for use with the seat.

  • Even the thickest is so thin behind the car seat I don't get how it could be unsafe. I never got that. It is thinner than a kid in a coat.

I had one and it was amazing I loved it! She was an October baby so she was in the infant seat in the dead of winter. The thicker one is the way to go if that is the case.

If you are worried about safety there is a shower cap style off brand once at BRU that some people consider safer.

This; and now I want the Toddler Bundle Me for her stroller.  That's the good thing about them; you can use them on the stroller too for cold walks.

  • Bundle Me's are NOT flame resistant.  If you get into a crash and your car catches on fire.....ugh, can't even go there, but it would be awful.  Now I know lots of blankets are not flame resistant either, but theoretically, you could rip a burning blanket off of your child, not the Bundle Me, which is strapped in and baby is laying on top of it.  With that said, I used one with both my kids- ooops!  Well, until i spoke to a State Trooper, who took one look at DS2's infant carrier with the Bundle Me and gave me the above info.  So I took it out and it will never be used with any future babies either.  Just not worth it after the mental picture the trooper gave me.

  • I want to use one... I really do.  BUT... For the life of me, I cannot get the damn thing to work in our Chicco carseat to the point where I feel its safe.  Blankets it is.
