3rd Trimester

If you haven't thought of this already....

make sure you have one of those mesh zipper laundry bags to wash LO's socks in. I have one but forgot to use it the other day. The result.... a washer that "broke down", over $50 to fix it and one very upset DH. A tiny little sock somehow got stuck in the pump. Fortunately DH is very handy and was able to take the washer apart to figure out what was wrong and fix it. Otherwise who knows how much it would have cost to have a repair man come take care of it!

  • Goodness!! How on earth did that even happen??? Do you have a top loader or a front loader?  It's definitely something to keep in mind.  I just added one to my registry!!
  • yes!!! i've been thinking about this ever since we opened the sock packages and saw how itsy winsey they are! they have bags for delicates and we plan on using that.
  •    we have a top loader... it either went up over the top of the wash basin or got sucked in under the agitator at the bottom. however it happened, it wasn't good!
  • Just FYI- I think it depends on what kind of washer you have. I don't own a mesh laundry bag and have washed little socks in our front loading washer multiple times without an issue.

I just checked BRU and BBB and can't find them....maybe I am calling them the wrong thing?

This is definitely true. I used to sell appliances at Home Depot and front loaders have so much more advantages than top loaders and this being one of them.  I still put one on my registry just in case.

  • We have a front loader and had the same problem with a pair of mittens.  I bought one at the Dollar Store not that long ago.

  • I always used a laundry bag for my son's socks when he was a baby. Not for the broken washer, but they are tiny and get lost in our clothes. I'm glad you were able to get your washer fixed.
  • i plan on putting them in an old pantyhose (like how i wash my bras so that they don't get tangled and twisted with other clothing) to wash them cuz i didn't get those mesh bags and don't wanna spend on getting one. Tongue Tied
  • Yeah there like a dollar at walmart...
