how many people know?!?

Hi Ladies,

I am new here, great board!

I was just curious if am in the majority or minority?? How many people have you told about undergoing infertility treatments. 

I have only told 1 friend and my immediate family.

 Not sure if I have made things easier by doing it since I have to make up excuses sometimes about missing things but I gues we do what makes up comfortable!!

Thanks for having me!!! Love all the support you give each other, its so great to read and get encouragement from!

    Welcome!

    My MIL and FIL know (but only b/c we had to ask my MIL some questions about her m/c and still birth) and our best friends know b/c they are also going through it and go to our clinic too. My DH's boss and my boss know. And that's it.

    Yes, do what makes you feel comfortable. I have told my parents (not H's), a few friends, and my boss.

    Only our immediate families and a few close friends know about our IF. Right now we're just not comfortable telling the world about it all, don't want to deal with all the stupidity people will throw at us.

    Hi and welcome!

    My mother and father know. My MIL knows. My closest friends know. (But they don't know the particulars and I rarely let them see me when I'm down about it.) I am lucky to have some awesome friends who really do try to understand.

    Mostly when I need to vent or talk about IF at all I come to this board.

    Unexplained Infertility

    After two Clomid cycles, three injectable IUI cycles, two IVFs, two miscarriages, and one lap surgery, IVF #2 has brought us our little boy!

    My mom knew about IUI#1, 

    My SIL knows b/c she went through IF too 

    Some friends know i'm going through treatments but they dont know when or what treatments

    Now we're on IUI #2 and just my SIL knows-  

    Surprise BFP after 5 yrs of TTC

    Hi and welcome! This is an awesome board for support!

    My family and his mom knows. I wish I hadn't told my mom because she doesn't understand and now that she knows we're trying she won't shut up about it and talks like there's nothing wrong. But all the *female* problems come from her side of the family, and I was living at home when I got diagnosed, so I kinda had to tell her. His mom and the rest of my family are much more supportive and discreet. Haven't told anybody else, though, and probably won't. Ultimately, you have to do what's best for you and your DH!

    My Mom and Dad and sisters know, none of my in-laws know. A random lady from work knows cause she walked in on me having a break down in the bathroom after I got some bad news and I just spilled the whole thing to her. I didn't tell my brother cause he really wouldn't want to know. If I go past fertility drugs to IUI or IVF I will tell my bosses.

    I have told more people than my DH. ?My parents and sisters have known for awhile, he just told them a few weeks ago- he broke down to his mom :( I have told most of my closest friends. ?I tried not talking about it but it just got to be too hard to keep it all in. ?Two co-workers know too, but only because they are had or are having difficulties. ?My DH has only told one of his friends. ?As we continue treatment, we may have to tell our boss- we both work together and we will have to take some days off. ?I don't want to go into too many details with him, but just enough so we don't look like we are playing hooky!

    Hey There I joined this board not to long ago myself and I have to agree all the ladies here are sooo amazing, uplifting, and supportive!!!  Mine and DHs immediate family know to a point and I told my close circle of girlfriends.  But only my bff knows all the details.  I had to tell my bosses because I will be asking for time off from the ER and ET most likely.  But they don't know the details just that DH and I are seeing doctors to try to get pg and I will be needing timeoff.  Go with whatever you want to do and what makes you and your DH most comfortable.  GL!

    Only our parents and a few close friends know.  We have tried to act as  normal as possible but have been less social for sure since the diagnosis.  Best of luck with your upcoming beta :)

    I'm new here too, these girls are amazing with advice and support.  We've only told immediate family and a few close friends.  Like you, I don't know if that makes things easier or not but I'm not ready to come out of the IF closet just yet.  I'm guessing a lot of people assume there are issues since I don't get the 'when are you...' question so much any more.

    At this point in my journey, only my mother has probably figured out that we are having TTTC.

    I will be having Laparoscopic surgery in less than 2 weeks, so my co-workers (very small office, time off was easier to explain if informed) know that I need surgery for endometriosis because I have considerate pain during my period.  They do not know it was found due to TTTC....I think they believe it is something I want to get out of the way now because of pain and I will be TTC soon.

    2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
    TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
    Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14

    I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
