I was thinking it could be dangerous to have that level of humidity/moisture in the room and padding of the carpet. It could lead to mildew or mold.
We have a cool mist humidifier, which has it's own issues, but I've never had problems with damp carpet. It's practically impossible to over-humidifiy the room because it's a passive evaporative system for the most part.
The only time we had that issue is when the humidifier was too big for the room we were using. It shouldn't get the room damp and like Taytee mentioned, you are likely growing mold so check everything now to be sure. I would get a smaller humidifier or turn your output down if you can.
thanks for the suggestions guys. It's sitting on a tv tray so I think it's high enough, It might actually be too big - it's one that DH and I had before DD came along - so it's not specific for kiddos. I've been wanting the froggy one - so we may be making a trip to BBB this week. I too have been concerned about mold.
Re: humidifier getting carpet really wet
Is it high enough from the ground? We don't have carpet, but his has been on nonstop for the last week or so and there's nothing on the floor.
Could it be turned up too high? like too much steam?
