1st Trimester

Headaches!

I hardly ever get headaches, until I got pregnant. My headache started the night before last, and yesterday it was so bad all day. Even today I don't feel 100%. Should I be really concerned? I'm thinking if I don't feel any better by tomorrow I'll go see my doc. I haven't taken any meds like Tylenol yet, just lying down with a cold cloth on my neck and trying to drink more water. I even got a bit dizzy this morning.

Anyone suffering with heaches like this and if so what are your home remedies?

Re: Headaches!

  • I used to get severe headaches during the third trimester with my DS.  I never took any kind of OTC meds.  Drinking lots of water and rest helped a bit.

  • I'm in the same boat. I never had headaches before I got pregnant. I tried cold wash clothes, even wrapped a heating pad around my head, haha. I finally took 2 regular strength Tylenol and that does the trick. My Doc says tylenol is fine to take.
  • i had a few early on that were pretty bad but i was scared to take OTC meds, so i just put a warm wet washcloth on my forehead, tried temple massage and tried to get some rest.  a warm bath or shower always helps me, too.  i use lavender scented johnson & johnson's bubble bath and it always seems to give me a little relief.  if they continue i'd ask your doctor about it just to be safe! i'm sure you're fine but it never hurts to ask! :)

  • I had headaches for almost 2 weeks straight and then realized it was probably from caffeine withdrawl so having a cup of tea or a can of caffeinated pop would help.  Also, I drink TONS of water because the first sign of dehydration for me is usually a headache.  I normally don't do meds.
  • I get all kinds of headaches-and had them pretty much throughout my pregnancy with my son. The best thing for me is to take a tylenol and drink a diet coke. My doctor suggested this and it works like a charm.

  • i have a headach also that just will not go away.
