When do you plan to stop using the high chair?

We have the space saver high chair now and its a PITA to move around the apartment so I am thinking about buying something on wheels, but I'm not sure how much longer he'll be using it.  We're planning on having more kids so I guess we could always use it until he's two and then put it away for the next baby.

TIA!

Re: When do you plan to stop using the high chair?

  • We stopped using it a few weeks ago. DS wasn't interested in the highchair anymore (always wanting out and not eating). He wanted to be at the table with us. We use his FP travel chair now and let him sit with us. Dinner time has been more enjoyable and makes us feel more like a family eating together.

  • I just packed ours up last week.  She is in a booster on the kitchen chair.
  • Probably pretty soon.  She doesn't use a high chair, we use the booster that ties to the chair and still has straps for them too.  But she doesn't really use the tray, she eats from the table.

She's been sitting so nice, I think in a couple months (probably around 18 months) I'll just get the booster.  What's nice about the one with straps that we currently have is that I don't have to strap her in and can see how she does.

  • DD stopped at about 13 months.  DS still uses it and probably will for a while.  We got an Ikea highchair for really cheap and it comes apart to store easily.

  • We're using the FP spacesaver in booster seat form right now (where you take off the back and fold the armrest things down).  It is a PITA to adjust the straps to different chairs but we usually just eat at one table so it's not too big a deal for us.
  • I don't see an end in sight. DS doesn't have a problem sitting in there for every meal.
  • we just did 2 weeks ago because DD kept tilting the chair back by pushing on the table w/ her feet. We also have the space saver and it puts her up higher then a booster seat.

Well, 2 weeks ago she finally managed to push the chair over backwards in the 2 seconds I went to throw something out.. thank God the chair just scraped the glass door and didn't crash through! We immediately switched her over to a regular booster and she absolutely loves eating at the table w/ us. Didn't have any issues w/ the switch at all. I think we could have done it sooner w/ no problems.
