How often do you bathe your LO? At first we bathed weekly based on all the info I've read. Since she's started solids, I give her a nightly scrub down, but still only do a bath once or twice a week. Once DD starts crawling, it will be a whole other ballgame, but I didn't know when we were supposed to switch to more frequent baths. DD doesn't smell and her hair doesn't get greasy so I assume she is OK.
Re: Bathing Baby
for the 1st 3.5 mo we bathed DD every 2-3, maybe 4 days, b/c I believe there is such a thing as "too clean" and really, babies don't get dirty, esp in fall/winter when they are not even sweating
but then we saw an allergist and she recommended bathing each night for 15-20 mins, not so much bathing really as keeping DD in water for that time; she had eczema and this much time in water helped her skin to absorb water and really moisturize her. as allergist put it "if we all submerged ourselves in water for 15-20 mins a day, we'd all have great skin." we also moisturize with aquaphor after each bath (and atopiclair for really bad eczema as needed).
DD#1 started needing a bath every night once she could walk and they went outside at daycare - just too much dirt daily to not get one. Also once they start feeding themselves, it is definitely bath night every night.
I only recently upped Molly to 2-3 times a week from once a week, because she randomly spits up a bit and starts to smell if I don't. If they don't smell/aren't looking grimy, then I don't think they need one super often when they are small. Now, if you want to make it part of the bedtime ritual and they really like it, then I would do it almost every night - this is what we did for Maggie as soon as she really started to enjoy bathtime.
DH and I have been alternating bedtime every two days since DS was 6 months old. That way we each get a bath night and a non-bath night. Whoever isn't putting him down gets a nice break.
This exactly.
We're big on the bedtime routine, so it has to do with that, not that we think she's dirty.
