I have been thinking of this for a while now. I think I am going to get Haleigh's hand print (actual size) on my left shoulder blade. I don't have any tats- and wasn't planning on getting any- but, I think this is a deserving event.
I am debating on if I want to include her name, Haliegh Mae. She is named after my Grandfather ("Ha"rry "Leigh") and Grandmother, Edna "Mae."
What do you think? w/ her name or not???
Re: DD's handprint tattoo??? What do you think?
I love the idea, but would do just her handprint. I went through the same dilemma, because I really wanted Ashton's name also done, but my brother-in-law nicely said, "But Karin, what if you have another miscarriage?" He wasn't trying to hurt my feelings, and he didn't, because I realized I wouldn't want any m/c to seem more important to me than any others. If that makes sense.
And man I hope I don't have another one!
I lost my twin girls in April of this year. I had one of each of their foot prints done together on my back and the each footprint sit inside a set of wings with the short version of their names written through the middle (Lexi for Alexis Louise and Izzy for Izabella Alexis).
I think that since you just have the one you will be fine without the name. But for me it was very important to have their names. If this is a tattoo that you are getting for your daughter and yourself I recommend that you include her name.
I love it. I saw a lady with one and thought that was a really sweet idea. Now I understand why she may have had it.
I say go for it!
That is an absolutely wonderful tribute.
Random thing: My friend Maria told me that cremains can be put into tattoo ink... Isn't that crazy? She said she's looking into doing that with her dad's cremains.
I think a tattoo of her hand print is an awesome idea. We didn't get Cavrie's hand or foot prints but I will be tattooing her name and angel wings on my shoulder.
I vote for putter her name on there too.
I like this idea! I'll have to think of what I would do..I lost my dear triplets. I have never had a tattoo, so how does it work? You can bring them the footprints, and design you want? I really like this as a way to honor my girls.
Thanks
I will first photocopy our print. I wouldn't want to bring the original out of the house. The tat shop will scan it into a transfer and place it. I think I just want her handprint- so there won't be a need to add anything else.
I am really sorry for your loss. I struggle with just loosing my one girl- I can't image loosing three at once. (((hugs)))
Thanks Roxy! It was very tough. Especially since the week prior everything looked good at my U/S. Never thought I would go through something like this.
I think I will photocopy their feetprint and bring it in as well. I was hoping I didn't have to take the original.
Yeah... Our origs are in a fire safe. I would be sooo upset if something happened to them. Besides her ashes, it is one of the last physical thing I have left of her. We also have some blankets that we wrapped and held her in... They have "fluid stains" on them... I don't have the heart to wash them.
Oh my god, I am so, so sorry! That is absolutely devastating!
I will never wash mine--they smell like her.
It's crazy--the first few weeks after giving birth, I kept smelling my baby places... weird places. It was like her scent was stuck in my nose.
