wallpaper border should be shot! 

I've spent way too much time trying to get this shiz off the bathroom walls.  I've tried every wallpaper removal trick in the book and it just doesn't want to come off easy.  AHHH!  I just want to paint the damn room so I can be done painting in our house.

    After our last house, my husband and I decided that, one day, we will burn down a wallpaper factory.  Not a jury in the world would convict us.

    This is what I'm currently using.  It's doing the best job so far of all the things I've tried but it is still slow going.  Every room in our house had border when we moved in.  All of the other ones were pretty easy to remove even though it was tedious.  This stuff is on there with super glue or something!

    Steam got the top layer off, it's the paper still attached to the glue that won't budge.

    And this is why I painted my border in the bathroom. One coat of Kilz and some paint and that sucker would be gone ;)

    Thank god the people before us didn't border any rooms in our house.  I hate it.

    You couldn't see the line where the border is after you primed it?  I wonder if I could have my husband putty over the seam to make it smooth...

    Agreed. We had wallpaper in our bedroom like that and my husband got so frustrated one day he ripped it off and ended up tearing off half the wall with it and we had to replace the sheetrock (sp?).

    The people that lived in our house before us did that.  It's now started to bubble and causes even more problems.

     

    Hiker,  did you score the area so the fabric softener could get under the paper and dissolve the glue

    gah. I feel your pain. every.single.room in our Quebec house had awful borders (I'm talking, naked baby angels up in the bathroom kind of awful). I curses the previous owners so many times

    No, I meant my border is painted on, as in I stenciled a border around the ceiling. There is nothing resembling wallpaper up there.

    Don't paint over the border! You'll regret it!

    Have you tried the blue gel stuff that comes in a windex type bottle?  I think it is called Dap and you can buy it at Home Depot.  It worked for me without even scoring the border.

    we used a scorer - a little handheld rotary doodah that made a bunch of holes/scratches in the paper - then the spray on blue goo.  worked wonders!
