Baby proofing vents?

Do u girls know if they make something to cover heat/air vents on the wall or floor? This is my girls latest discovery and we're starting to use the heat, making them hot to touch. Do they make something for this? Thanks

Re: Baby proofing vents?

  • Our vents never get hot to the touch, but DS#2 loves nothing more than pulling the whole register out of the floor. I often catch him trying to stick toys down there!

  • I'm not sure about that, because air flows out of them you probably shouldn't/can't cover them.  I do know that my friend's son used to pull the top off and climb in and get stuck up to about his waist.  He didn't get hurt, and it made for a great picture.  :)

  • We put his toy chest kitty corner in front of the heater vent in his room. It is low enough that it is not in direct line of the heater, so it isn't a fire hazard, but it makes it inaccessible to DS. For the heaters upstairs, we have started saying, "OUCH OUCH!" like we do for the stove, so he knows he is not supposed to touch them. It is taking a long while for him to NOT touch the stove and heaters, but I am hoping he will better understand that they are off limits when we start using the heaters.
