Talk to me about your sleep positioner

We have one and used it the first week or so, then stopped (no reason). Well, DD is now wild in the crib she ends up all over! Tell me why you use the positoner and maybe I will start again?

Re: Talk to me about your sleep positioner

  • I always thought sleep positioners were silly and unnecesary, but someone gave me one and I'm really glad I have it.  I swaddle my son and the sleep positioner helps me tuck the ends under him and he doesn't come undone.  Plus, it seems like the pillows on the sides kind of bundle him and make him feel even more secure.  I also like that the head part is elevated which helps a little with spit up.

  • You may already know this, but they are a suffocation risk.   LO's can wiggle enough that they can possibly get the little faces smushed up against it.    Of course, the likelyhood is probably slim.......

I was told by my pedi not to use one for this very reason!

We used one for a week, until I went in the room and L had wiggled down & his head was between the two positioners, his face pushed up against it and he was crying. They are supposed to be breathable but I was not comfortable with that, it came out right then.

  • I used one for the first month until I found her one morning with her head between the two sides. I got rid of it after that.

this. I freaked out when I went into his room one morning to find him crying and smushed against the side of the positioner. I threw it away that morning. He did well with the incline so I ended up buying a crib wedge that goes under the sheet to elevate his head a bit and that seems to help. I also swaddle him and put him slightly on his side to sleep and that seems to work as well too.
