Re: ~*~*~ PCOS Check-In ~*~*~ SAIFW

  • I am on cd 3 now starting round two of Clomid tonight at 100mg.

QOTD: For me it has been the weight problems and the acne.

  • I am currently on my 2nd round on Clomid. 100 mg.

QOTD: The hardest side effects for me are: not being able to loose weight, and the excess hair growth. I am fair skinned an light haired, but my body hair is getting thicker and darker. Yuck.

For this child I prayed, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.

  • Still waiting for AF to show up so we can do our HCG

QOTD: I think for me it is the fact that it is hard to lose weight even though I am watching what I eat. I have lost 10 pounds, but I can't seem to get past that. Now that it is fall and cooler outside I am hoping to step it up.

  • I just went to the RE yesterday for long anovulatory cycles.  Based on that and my abnormal hair growth he suspected PCOS.  Then he confirmed a high number of follicles in each ovary (15-16) with an ultrasound.  He is waiting until I can go in for CD 3 blood work to diagnose officially, but I am not optimistic.

I have been reading up a little since yesterday and I am just getting more upset and nervous.  I am not sure really what I am asking here, but I am glad to know there is a support group here.

I do not struggle with my weight, but the doctor said that does not rule out PCOS.

I am not sure if I should participate here yet or not, but I guess I just need a place to voice my concerns.  I hope no one minds.

  • I'm in the 2WW. Have progesterone check on 10/7 and Beta on 10/14.

QOTD- For me it's been the weight gain.

  • I hope to be O'ing on Clomid in the next few days.  DH is ready for some "doctor prescribed" BD'ing.  My BBT actually looks like something a "normal" person's chart shows....so I'm being optimistic on Clomid right now.

QOTD: I'm pretty lucky of not having many of the major issues associated with PCOS.  So the most annoying thing to me is the hair growth.  Nair doesn't seem to work on me anymore :(

  • CD1 - starting FET cycle

QOTD-  over time i developed a lot of skin tags around my neck which i eventually got removed.  after three years i have just one that grew back and some little tiny things that will probably develop into a skin tag.  i know that i'll probably have to get them removed every few years.

also, weight gain is my biggest physical challenge :(  without birthcontrol it's practically impossible for me to loose weight.

  • I just started to see a surge 2 days ago so I am hopeful that I will ovulate this cycle.

QOTD:  well At the end of my high school days I gained weight, only in the stomach area.  If I didn't suck my stomach in I looked pregnant.  So for years I just hid my stomach or sucked in all the time.  I could never figure out why the weight was all in that area.  Now with my dx I have been told why.  So I have been losing weight with SBD to fix that which has worked well.  The other s/e has been adult acne.  I had the clearest skin when I was a teenager and now I also have a least one spot/breakout on my face.  I use great makeup to deal with it and have tried everything.  I would really like to find a solution to that.

  • Going to a new RE on 10/7. I swear it seems like I have been typing that forever. Hopefully then we will have a real plan for the next step!

QOTD: For me it's the weight and the acne. I have never had problems with either so it's a very trying time for me. I can't say that I do too much different than I already did like exercising, watching what I eat, and washing my face. I guess the only semi-new thing is the met. To be honest I don't really deal with the side effects very well. They get to me worse on some days but their always there as a constant reminder.

  • Just had another monitoring appointment today and we decided to switch to an IUI! So we are having our first one tomorrow morning. I have three follies right now and really good lining so I'm excited! Trying to remain realistic but I'm just so happy to be DOING something!

QOTD: I guess the acne...and since I had my last cyct removed, that swelling/bloating has never really gone down..which sucks.

  • No idea what CD I'm on.  I've had light to heavy spotting w/clots for the last week, so not sure if any of those are CD1.  I haven't been able to temp all week because I'm pet sitting and it requires a bottle every 4 hours, which means I'm not getting much sleep.  Endo appointment today, I'm looking forward to getting my thyroid stuff figured out and hoping maybe he can help with PCOS too.  I'd rather not have to go see a seperate RE and Endo.  Does anyone know if an Endo will treat PCOS?

QOTD: Excess hair is a PITA and also the acne.  I definitely miss BCP and how nice my skin used to be.

  • I dont think this cycle worked for us. Which is a good thing b/c I have the flu now. I'm going to POAS on last time on Sat am and then call my dr on momday. I guess I will start Provera then, and maybe increase the clomid.

QOTD: The weight issue is what gets me down. I can easily get rid of excess hair and can treat acne, but I have the worse time losing any weight.

  • My stats are in my siggy...and the hardest thing for me is the weight.  I hate the Bridgestone tire I have around my midsection.
  • Hello! I have been pre-qualified to participate in a PCOS IVF study. I've posted here about it a few times. I am hoping I will get the final word soon so I can get the ball rolling!

QOTD: I deal with my weight and facial hair. All my excess weight is around my middle. I was having to pluck hair daily from my chin, but since starting Met, it seems to have lessened.

  • Still in the 2WW... 7dpo... just waiting and waiting... this has been the longest wait ever now that I finally ovulated on my own.

QOTD:  For me, the weight gain has been the hardest.  It's rough healthwise and appearance-wise.  :(  Although the weight has started to slowly come off since I've been on metformin.  I've lost about 15 pounds the past couple months.  It's a start, but I have a long way to go!

  • I'm on cd 26.  I tested last night and got a BFN...  I'll test again at the end of the week just to confirm.. Next cycle will most likely be with femara.

QOTD:  I'd have to go with skin tags and facial hair..

  • Currently I'm pretty sure I'm leading up to my O day.  So right now we are getting busy trying to make sure there is no escaping for my egg.  Wink

QOTD: I have a difficult time with how PCOS effects my apperance.  I break out very easily and I also get facial hairs on my chin and sides of my face.  This is what I find most difficult because when I'm on the pill I have none of these issues.  Hopefully I get my bfp soon so I can get back on the pill.

  • QOTD - to be honest, I haven't really done anything different. I always had these issues, just didn't know it until I was diagnosed as to why. When I'm on BCP, my acne goes away. So, that will come with time. The most annoying thing for me is facial hair...which while not the most effective, I just pluck away. It's become an obsession for me.

  • Waiting for AF again so I can have my CD2 u/s.....Hoping the fall is bringing me good things.

QOTD: Besides the fact that losing weight is impossible, the skins tags. I hate them. With a passion!

  • Hello! I'd like to be added to the group *again* as we officially started TTC #2 back in August. This group was big help while I was TTC#1:) I hope I can share my experience from it as well this time.

RE's plan for our #2 is same as what we did for #1...Clomid and Metformin. Today is CD 35 and day 4 on Prometrium to bring on AF. The last cycle (the very first AF after DD was born) came on its own 2 months after stopping BF right before I start taking Prometrium. However, they found a small cyst on CD3 and it was "hormone producing cyst" so I was told to skip this cycle... I waited for long 30 days for AF but looks like I need Prometrium this time. Hopefully I will get AF soon after done with Prometrium and the cyst is gone so that I can try Clomid!

QOTD- Luckily I don't have any other PCOS related issues/symptoms other than IF. However, looking back, I had bad breakout on my face and heavy cramps around my period when I was in high school...maybe that was caused by PCOS?

  • I am doing alright. Just waiting to ovulate, but I am thinking it won't happen for another 2 weeks or so.

I am going to clean the list out over the weekend, so the bio will be up to date as well.

QOTD: I think the worse thing for me is the facial hair and nothing I can do to stop it. The weight gets troublesome, but at least I can do something about it.

  • I'm doing ok, getting ready to start another cycle, if you can call it that - please oh please let me O this month!

QOTD: Weight is my biggest issue.  I try really hard to watch what I eat, but when all my efforts produce little to no results, I get very frustrated and discouraged.  If only my body accurately reflected what I ate... sometimes I feel that I have no control over my body at all.  Hey Body, Listen Up: I'm In Charge!!!  LOL

  • Hi!  I'm ok, just a little bummed.  I went in for a post coital last Friday (18 hours since BD) and all the swimmers were dead.  Not very encouraging.  So I'm not hopeful whatsoever for this cycle.  Next cycle, I'll be on Femara again, and I'll go in for another pos coital like 4 hours after we BD that morning.  If they're dead again, it's on to IUI.

QOTD:  My biggest struggles are with losing weight and lack of energy.

  • Besides being obese, I really don't have any SE from PCOS.  My periods have always been regular & not super heavy, I don't have bad acne, etc.  My b/w was what told my RE it was PCOS; I was shocked, actually.  But it's nice to know why getting pregnant is taking so long.

    GL all!

  • Please add me to the list.  We have been trying for 6 months. diagnosed with PCOS yesterday and have blood test tomorrow to see if I am insulin resistant.
  • Hi, I'm Mindy and please add me to the list.  I was dx with PCOS a couple weeks ago.  Right now I am waiting for AF to start (just finished Provera on Monday) so I can go in for CD 2 testing.  My RE wants to start with 100 mg of Clomid this month, but I guess that depends on test results. I just passed my 2 hour glucose test so that's good!

QOTD:  I would say the worst non-IF related side effect for me is excess hair and acne.  The acne comes and goes, but of course the hair never stops!  For my face, I wax and tweeze and bleach between waxings.  Sometimes I bleach my arms and sometimes use Nair on my stomach and back.  Not fun!

  • I am on CD15.  This cycle I am doing Clomid, Metformin, Ovidrel trigger, and TI.  I went in today for my second monitoring and now have 4 little follies growing.  Going back Saturday but at this rate I'm sure I'll have to come back Monday because they seem to be slow growing!

QOTD:  Besides IF I deal with acne, weight gain, and excessive hair growth (the worst is on my face).  Right now it's the acne.  Everyday I have a new zit on my face.  And yesterday one popped up on my thumb knuckle and it hurts!  I didn't even know I could get them there.

  • Last month was a bust with 4 mature follicles. Went for baseline u/s that showed 2 huge cysts. Had HSG scheduled for this morning was STUPID me took my metformin when I was told last week when scheduling NOT to take it. It was just part of my routine in the morning. Was told the contrast dye & metformin could cause acute kidney failure yikes! So I am rescheduled for next Tues

QOTD: Weight gain is my s/e of PCOS. I have tried to eat better & believe I have lost a few pounds but it's hard to do.

  • Doing some more waiting....they've decided to try 2-3 rounds of Clomid "while we're 'on a break'", even though they know it's not going to help. They should be calling my prescription in soon, I would imagine. I don't really want to go the Clomid route, but I figure that if DH is okay with trying it while we're "breaking" than I may as well jump on it.

QOTD: Not being able to lose weight even though I barely eat and run like he!!. GRRR!!!

TTC 7+ years - 3 failed IUI's; not going the IVF route; stopped treatment December 2013.

  • Going in for more blood tests to check hormone levels and get an idea of wtf we are doing right now. I feel so frustrated at the lack of plans for the next few cycles. It's really pissing me off.

QOTD: the weight(!!) I feel like a whale and as shallow as it is, I used to be very proud of the (very) athletic body I had. Now that's in the sh!tter. The acne sucks too. As does the crappy scalp problems. I used to love my hair as well. Blah, I'm in a self-loathing mood tonight apparently, lol.

  • Hello!  I am nearing the end of our first Clomid cycle.  The test yesterday was finally a bfn after my trigger shot on the 18th.  I will be testing for real on Sunday.  If no bfp by next Wednesday, it's on to Clomid cycle #2!

QOTD: I'm super lucky (I guess) that the only PCOS side effects I have are fertility related.  No weight or hair issues.  I do have mild acne sometimes...but it doesn't seem any worse than others I know.  Please don't hate me!  I do have elevated triglycerides and cholesterol and borderline high blood pressure, which I know can be side effects of PCOS.
