Maternity dress - any tips

I need a dress for my shower this weekend and haven't found anything at Motherhood.  I'd like a dress that I can wear to my shower and a FL wedding in about 2 weeks... any suggestions?

Re: Maternity dress - any tips

  • I would try looking at empire-waist dresses... that way it doesnt' have to be "maternity."
  • I found a GREAT one at a thrift store up in Mt. Airy... iknow that's far for you but maybe there's one around there. Mine is a Gap Maternity dress that was around $90 originally. It has the tags still on it and i got it for $30!

This is what I would do.  Have you looked at H&M?

  • I second H&M - I wish Loft still carried maternity in their stores, almost my entire maternity wardrobe came from there.  Another option is to try a maternity consignment store.
  • Did you look at Loft, Target, Pea in a Pod, or Gap?  Like pps said, you could also just look for a dress w/an empire waist.  GL!
  • there is a huge consignment sale this weekend, you could look there

I can't find the website now but I believe it's at the Dulles Expo center in Chantilly

that's what i wore through out my pregnancy. in particular, a Gap jersey dress that was easy to dress up and down. i also had a pretty cute dress from a pea in the pod, though.

    The DC Nest. Winers welcome.

  • I also have my shower this weekend, I went with the regular empire waist dress, got mine at Express. Here it is: (sorry, I don't know how to put pics in posts :( but this is the link:

Since it is strapless, I am wearing a shrug to cover my shoulders, this is the shrug I got:

    City Style Cotton Shrug

Either way, I'm sure you'll look pretty, have fun in your shower!!!

  • Or you could always go with a wrap dress. I swear I lived in mine.
  • Great suggestions everyone.  I've tried Gap to no avail but I might just hit H&M or a department store for empire waist dress in a size or two bigger.  Thanks!!
