ONE MORE MONTH!! (drying up ?)

Well its one month until the beaners 1st birthday.  I am so very excited :) however I am slightly bummed that I didn't make it until my goal.  I wanted to EBF for one year but I made it to 9 or 10 months then had to start supplementing a bottle or two everyday from then until now.  But I am officially don't breastfeeding all together now. :(  Jossalyn hasn't nursed in atleast 4 days and I am starting to really feel the effects of it.  I am so super bummed but so very proud of myself considering I made it threw that long even after tanking my supply due to the emotional stress of my husband and I separating.  but physically starting to really hurt now too.  I slept with frozen cabbage leaves last night which was a HUGE relief (although the smell of cabbage makes me feel like vomitting).

Any advice for relief or things to do?  How long does drying up usually take?  I don't really know anything about this aspect of nursing!

Re: ONE MORE MONTH!! (drying up ?)

  • I talked to a friend today that is going through some major pain and her doctor told her to take some tylenol.  I didn't have much pain myself because we weaned pretty slow.  Would ice help?  I know I used to put bags of frozen peas on when my milk first came in! Congrats for nursing that long....amazing!!!!
