Babies on the Brain

so, I have been thinking...

and I just need to get this out because I have been thinking about it since I heard.

It's such a horrible thing that happened with that IE nestie who passed away recently after giving birth. I just can't imagine something like this and what my husband would have to go through. This did almost happened to us.  Dr.'s told him I was going to die because of the amniotic infection I had. I don't remember it all since I was out of it but he told me later. I try not to think of the what if's but it's hard. I am just so grateful for him and my family....and always of course, you guys. This has just been on my mind and i don't know....just something I needed to say. I think I am just more grateful everyday for what we do have and that we have eachother. Love you all!

  • That story has been on my mind a lot as well. How often do women die during childbirth these days? (speaking of non-third world countries) Does anyone know?

  • I have no idea. So many stories I hear are because of things that you wouldn't think will happen.

I hadn't even heard of this but it breaks my heart. How did anyone find out here? Did her DH post or something?

Good to know. Is the risk the same for C-Sections and Vaginal Births? I'm gonna start googling this as well.

I guess the IE board is really close IRL too.  Someone posted over here saying that they found out...I think from the hospital?  or a friend?

I dont believe so. From what I have read its mainly because of Placenta Previa, which in most cases if you have it you are given a C-section to reduce the changes of losing too much blood.

C-sections are always higher risk b/c it is surgery.

I am still a huge supporter of scheduled c-sections despite how unpopular that opinion is.  However, a lot of my support behind them comes from my medical need for one...but not all of it.

Thanks for the information. :) I'm going to be researching more about PP. Stories like this freak me out. I feel so horrible for her family and especially her husband!

  • I love you, too MrsM!  I cannot begin to tell you how incredibly thankful I am that you're here.  You have helped me so incredibly much after losing Katie Jane.
