I work very part-time. Normally, I work Tues/Thurs from 2:30-11 and then the same shift every other weekend. The pay is decent and I have amazing benefits.
Recently my boss asked me to switch to the overnight shift (on my weekends) and said that they would adjust my schedule so that I would be home in time for DH to go to work, etc. They have been extremely flexible and understanding. So, now I work 10-8:30 on those Saturdays and 10-7am on those Sundays that I work.
I have two issues. The girl that I work with is insane. Seriously, she is crazy and tells me off the wall stories about selling vision boards on ebay along with magic potions. I can't get away from her. My boss wants me to address this with her through email (and BCC my boss) and see if it gets better. However, I only see it getting worse considering she is the only person I work with.
Then, I am having a hard time catching up on sleep on Monday. DH is awesome about letting me sleep as long as I want on Sunday day, but I can't ever sleep longer than 3 hours, so by the time Monday comes, I am freaking exhausted.
So, should I suck it up since it is only every other weekend? The pay increase is pretty decent, and I don't really have to deal with the office politics and/or being called a f*cking white ass b*tch by the teen girls I work with.
Or should I just ask to switch back to evening shift? If so, then I need to be able to give my boss a decent reason why I want to switch back. Ugh.
Re: NTR: WWYD? (job related)
She might put a spell on you....
LoL
But seriously have you seen the etsy person selling potions and voodoo dolls, maybe thats her?
Also I do the night thing every night, you will get used to the sleep it will just take time about 4-5 weeks.
So I would give it 4-5 weeks if it doesnt get better then I would switch back
See, I don't know if I will get used to it, because it is only every 2 weeks. If it was a weekly thing then I could see that, but I have work 2 overnight weekends now, and each time I felt like crap on Monday.
Ha. I work with that crazy *** the whole night. Will she hurt me? No. I hope not but honestly I am f'ing sick of hearing her talk about her fiance in jail, her 7 year old that drinks coffee every morning, and her insane potions, etc. She asked me if I wanted to come over and help her put glitter in her potions.
She is crazy. Crazy enough for me to switch shifts without skipping a beat.
What line of work are you in that teenagers can get away with calling you a f*&(ing white ass b*&ch???!!!
If you think you can keep up the schedule going forward and not burn out, I would keep doing it for the extra money. But if it's so bad that the exhaustion might really run you down, switch back. GL!
I work in a treatment group home for teen girls. Getting called every name in the book happens on a daily basis.
