DS and I were at Walgreens today and having him in the ring sling got a lot of attention (usually does in my neighborhood). One Walgreens employee kept saying how cute he was and how she loved his little head poking out of the sling, getting closer and closer with every comment. She finally said "I just have to touch him - I don't want him to get sick!" So she cuddles him a little bit and then said "there, he won't get sick now!". Umm...huh? I'm ok with strangers touching (I'm in the germs provide immunity camp) but how does touching my kid make him LESS likely to get sick? Weird.
About a month ago I had another woman have to see him so "he would be healthy". (He was asleep in the carrier with a blanket over it.) So strange!
Is this some cultural thing I'm unaware of?
Re: whew! now he won't get sick!
That is very strange. I am of the same school of thought as you...exposure to germs = immunity to germs
Only way a body builds immunity is to be exposed, but I did not know cuddles did it too
