We just found out yesterday that we are expecting twins... Although I'm excited, I find myself worrying excessively about what could go wrong. Is this a normal response? I'm just scared honestly..
And yes, TOTALLY normal. It is scary and exciting at the same time. The truth is twin pregnancies are considered high risk, so you should know your risks and know what to look out for, what type of care to get (see a specialist). And remember to keep a positive attitude (when possible), you will be fine! Get Dr. Luke's book called something like "when you are expecting twins, triplets" It is wonderful and will help you through, so will the ladies on this board.
worry is normal with any pg... even worse with multiples because there are more risks.. For me- arming myself with knowledge helps my fears. Get Dr. Luke's book on being pg with twins/triplets/quads- it's the bible on here to having a healthy twin pg. Prayer helped me a lot, too... and still does- because for me, the worry is only worse once they are out in the real world!
Thanks so much for your thoughts... I'll def have to get that book. I was already worried when I thought there was only 1.. See my first was born with anencephaly in 1997. In 1998 my now 11 yr old son was born and although the pregnancy was great at last minute I found out my platelets were extremely low and I had to have a crash c-section d/t fetal distress. My DD is is now 5. I had a placental abruption at 17 wks and thought I was going to lose her. I was on bedrest from 17-37 wks and she was born in resp distress and was on a ventilator for nearly 2 weeks..
I really really do try to stay positive but you may understand why I have concerns. All I can do is rely on prayer and the support I receive from my family and friends as well as the people on this website who share the same concerns..
Again, thanks so much I really do appreciate it!! : )
